Sort of like having hope that you will win the lottery, but lack the belief that it is going to happen.

I'm wondering if this is the stance that a lot of agnostics take.

If you have hope that your Creator's love exists and don't have proof that He doesn't exist, then why not seek your Creator? Isn't He more important than anything else in the universe? When the lottery prize gets really high, well that's when the line goes around the block.

Belief is an act of the intellect. We adopt beliefs to achieve a goal or to go someplace. As long as the belief hasn't been proven false, then the belief is rational.

Some adopt a belief that God exists with the hope that His love for us exists. Some adopt a belief that God doesn't exist with the hope that we will escape the authority of God over us.

Aesity means self-existence. Aesity explains the metaphysical nature of God as a purely self-existent being that exists in complete actuality. God is not a being that is created by another god; neither does God create himself into existence. Rather, God has always existed as an unchanging, completely actualized being.

God has his Being of himself and to himself such that he is Absolute being and the definition of existence.
Since God’s essence is his nature and God’s existence is the same as his essence it follows that God is existence.

Of course, alot of people do. We all have hope that something bigger and better exists but we all don't base an entire belief system on a hope.
