Do the cars in NASCAR have anything like a black box or something that would record if a driver was to exceed maximum engine RPMs?

Also if you know of any reference to a website that has information on it would be appreciated?

Thanks guys but my main concern is engine RPM. My question was a little misleading.

There is no black box for rpm but the tachometer has a memory and displays the maximum rpm the engine has experienced since it was last reset (which is every time it goes out on the track.

All teams are required to use radio communicators for safety. And yes the speeds are electronically communicated to Nascar thus they get Pit road speeding violations.

they do have black boxes that measures impact but not RPMs

Transponders send the speed information to NASCAR so they can see what speed they are going and where they are on the track
