I love when people wish me a Merry Christmas:)

I'm not really sure if I actually believe in Christ or not.

I think it's sad that people get offended. If someone wishes someone else a Merry Christmas, they aren't usually trying to offend the other person. I wish people could just see that the other person is just trying to be kind, and stop making such a big deal out of the little things!

No I am not offended. And No, I do not believe that Jesus christ existed.

People saying merry christmas is just a polite greeting or salutation. No reason to get offended. I do not say merry christmas, however, because I do not assume that all people are christians and celebrate christmas. That doesn't make me any more or less of a person or an American.

Christmas and christmas traditions have little to do with the birth of Christ. The christmas tree is not a christian symbol. It is one of the many holidays that people have celebrated around the time of the winter solstice, christianity has tried to ursurp the symbols and traditions over time to make them solely christian. But they aren't.

What some people want (and I am one of them) is to make sure that this country never sponsors any one religion. That was the intention of the wall of separation between church and state. I don't have a problem with a person or people saying a prayer to themselves in school (neither does the supreme court), but I do have a problem when there is a public call for a prayer to a christian god (or any other god) and you are either forced to pray or made to feel like you are less of a citizen because you don't believe in that god. I do not want my tax dollars funding a religion. But that doesn't mean that I want you all to believe in Vishnu, the Orcs, the One eyed, one horned flying purple people eater, or nothing at all. You are free to believe in what you want to, but just not on my tax dollar. That is all.

I would invite you all to read the treaty of Tripoli, voted unanimously in 1796 by the senate. Article 11 clearly states the United States is not a christian nation, and no one in the senate voted against this wording. I am not saying this is a binding document, but it does clearly represent the intentions of the young nation. Furthermore, it does not mean that people of the US cannot be religious, it does mean that our government does not sponsor or promote any one religion over any other or lack there of.

No way! It is simply a wish for some people- like have a nice day. I believe 100% in Christ. I do celebrate his birth with great joy. If I wish someone a Merry Christmas I'm not trying to force my beliefs on them but simply trying to convey my wish for their peace and joy during a beautiful season.

No, being told "Merry Christmas" does not offend me. Although I am not Christian (I'm a pagan-witch), I do celebrate Christmas. It isn't just about Jesus. It has Pagan roots (Yule/Winter Solstice). Also, it is a fun time of year to get together with friends and family, to give and receive, etc. It's a great time for everybody.

As I said, I am not Christian, but since there is historical proof of Jesus' existence, I believe that he lived.

I believe in Christ, which is why I don't get offended. But every once in a while, I'll mix it up a bit and wish someone a Happy Kwanza. It really throws them off.

in this country we celebrate Christmas plain and simple !!
Would you be offended if you went somewhere and they said happy Hanukkah ?? I should think not. Who cares what they say it doesn't effect you. People are way too ridiculous about such things !! I am a believer but even when I wasn't I still thought it was hogwash to complain about it, and by the way Happy Hanukkah, Feliz Navidad, and Merry Christmas to you:) LOL
God bless

I'm not at all offended... I think it is a personal opinion and either way the person is just being cordial.
I do believe in Christ!

I do not belong to any Christian church - and I the the Bible has its flaws...which by many would mean I am not Christian.

I am not offended when someone says to me "Merry Christmas". Christmas is a fully commercialized and public/national holiday. I do not celibrate Christmas in any religious fashion.

However, I don't care to hear "Happy Holidays"...the next time someone tells me that I am thinking about replying "Cheerful Celebrations".

Why would I be offended by someone telling me "Merry Christmas"? Me being an atheist doesn't mean I have to take offense at every religious cliche.
