I'm just curious. What do you think of Cesar Milan, and why?

As some one else said here he is a behaviorist more than a trainer.
As a trainer myself all I can say to you is that most of us all learn from one another and take away ideas from each other.
No one trainer is the end all to beat all.
The day you stop learning from some one else is the day you need to stop being a trainer.

HE is a GENIUS!

BUT

Do not watch his show on tv as a guide book on how to train your dog. EACH and EVERY dog is different and has different issues. Each dog needs to be evaluated individually. You should never watch the Dog Whisperer and take it for anything more than a good story with built in advertising. Even Cesar says not to practice his methods at home without the help of a professional.

If you can afford Cesar and he can take you on as a client, consider yourself and your pet blessed. If not, look for an affordable reputable trainer in your local area. NEVER try to train your dog on behavior issues unless you have been trained first.

i think hes great at what he does. But i do not consider him a trainer, and i have said this so many times but need to repeat that he himself does not consider himself a trainer. he is a behaviorist. he specializes in taking dogs that are extremely problematic and fixing them. i do not believe most trainers could do what he does. i do think his show is repetetive, but that is mainly b/c of the people they put on it. they all have the same problems. generally people in this country get dogs jsut to say they have a dog, then wonder why they have so many problems. well do you walkto dog everyday? no. do you let the dog get away with it? yes. most everyone on the show is learning impaired and doesnt realize that if they just treated their dog like a dog it would be fine and not trying to attack your son.

anyways, he is not a trainer, so i wish people would stop saying he isnt much of a trainer, or that he is moving dog training back 50 years. most dogs that cesar handles are dogs that trainers have said are untrainable.

Our 3 year old Golden Retriever loves this show. Today I was trying to clean pine sap from the side of our dogs head. I used the sssshhhh-t sound that Cesar makes to keep our dog still while doing this. Our dog thought this was so much fun and wanted to just play and give kisses! The sound didn't work for me. LOL

He's good, but the show is like other reality shows that have a lot of editing. I would like to see him follow up on the cases a year ago and see if the dogs and owners went right back to bad behavior as soon as Cesar and his camera crew left.

I've been watching Cesar for a long time and I've read his book and I think that his way of getting us to look at our relationship with our animals is extremely genious and makes sense. It all goes back to mother nature and why dogs were really created and what their natural behaviorment is. I've tried his techniques and ways with my dogs and I've noticed more balance in our lives interacting day to day. I have three dogs two are big and we only live in a small house so I have to keep my sanity and I've just found that what he says and does makes sense. I really respect what he is doing for those dogs he helps and I think we need more understanding people like him in this world to help make a more balanced life for our dogs.

He's very good with what he does.
I like the background he uses into pack mentality and canine behavior. Very insightful on many things.
Is he the best trainer around? Probably not, as he is more of a behavioralist.
I enjoy his show but it's not the be all and end all of dog training.

I think he's a great dog pychologist and i think it's pretty dope how he has as many dogs as he does. There are so many dogs put to death or sent to the shelter every year and he's trying to keep that from happenning. So right on.

I like him and the fact that he tries to get people to understand that a dog is an animal. You can't treat it like it's human or you're causing confusion and problems.
