Well, you've given us a lot to go on, except the only thing we really do need to know---the artist's name.

Size is immaterial.
1966 isn't "old" by any stretch of the imagination. It was only 41 years ago.
"The address"? Whose address? A gallery, frame shop, or what?

If you don't know how to tell on sight whether a piece is original or not, it will be difficult to simply tell you how to do so. Layers of real paint and actual brushstrokes are one way, but it has been possible for decades to reproduce paintings right onto canvas, with a surface of brushstroke texture.

If I were you, I'd take it to an appraiser, or an antique store.

A painting is only worth what someone is willing to pay. Check your artist's name on the Internet and see if there are any footprints the artist has left. That might give you some clue.
Have a local gallery in your area look at it. Call first and tell them you want to sell the painting but would like someones opinion on what it is worth.

ASK THEM WHAT THEY WOULD CHARGE YOU TO LOOK AT IT. They spent years getting an education and most will charge you for an appraisal. But you can probably find one that will give you a quick look and tell you if it is original, print, or what?? And do not go in without calling and making an appointment.
