The infinitive to this word is Za-byt' the y being a hard i sound. In Russian it is like this "Забыть."

What people are saying which is Za-bud' is the imperative as if you're telling somebody to literally forget something. That is забудь, забудьте in the plural. It is more often used as a negative to tell someone to not forget something.

"Забыть" is the perfect verb while "Забывать" is the imperfective. Both mean to forget. Russian is hard but your effort is great, keep it up!
