Even though King David commited adultry and had an innocent man killed I think Christians believe that he is in heaven right now. We must believe this because even after his various sins we are told how righteous he was in the yes of GOd. David did not need Jesus to take away his sins, he prayed to God and with a repentant heart begged for God to forgive him. Why do we need Jesus to wash away our sins when this job was allready being done by God?

CJ, can I get a verse to back that up(with correct Hebrew translation please)?

Wefmeist, the verse you quoted from Psalms 110 was translated incorrectly. The second "lord" in the verse does not refer to a divine lord, but a human lord(king or master). The exact same Hebrew word used in the second "lord" of that verse was also used to refer to Abraham in Deut. Do some research on this verse and see for yourself, the evidence is overwhelming. Some Christian translations actually translate it correctly as "The Lord said to my master....."

pugwash, check your translation. Psalms 13:3 Look and answer me, O Lord my God; enlighten my eyes lest I sleep the sleep of death(Jewish translation)

Brotherm, please research the actuall translation of Psalms 110. It is impossible for the second "lord" to refer to a being of divinity in the Hebrew translation.

You are mistaken.
David did need Jesus to take away his sins, and waited in Hades, in the Bosom of Abraham awaiting until His beloved Messiah would appear and ransom his soul from Satan. That is why Peter says:

"Brothers, I can tell you confidently that the patriarch David died and was buried, and his tomb is here to this day. But he was a prophet and knew that God had promised him on oath that he would place one of his descendants on his throne. Seeing what was ahead, he spoke of the resurrection of the Christ, that he was not abandoned to the grave, nor did his body see decay. God has raised this Jesus to life, and we are all witnesses of the fact. Exalted to the right hand of God, he has received from the Father the promised Holy Spirit and has poured out what you now see and hear. For David did not ascend to heaven, and yet he said,
" 'The Lord said to my Lord:
"Sit at my right hand
until I make your enemies
a footstool for your feet." '

"Therefore let all Israel be assured of this: God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord and Christ." "

Acts 2:29-36

Jesus was the propitiation for the sins of His people, all of them, before His time, during His life, and after His death. The Old Testament patriarchs looked forward to the coming Messiah, who is Christ. As it was written of Abraham, is true of David, "the just shall live by faith". There is no forgiveness without the spilling of blood. The sacrifices of animals was a covering for sin, but did not forgive. Only the perfect lamb, the lamb of God, could wipe away sin. If you read the Psalms, there is prophecy concerning Christ. Also, David wrote this in Psalms 110:1:

Psa 110:1 A Psalm of David. A declaration of Jehovah to my Lord: Sit at My right hand, until I place Your enemies as Your footstool.

If Jehovah is God the Father, who is "my Lord"? Christ.

Everything you are describing is from the Old Testament.

In the New Testament, John 3:16 describes what God did for all of us. He sent His one and only Son to pay for all of our sins. Jesus bridges the gap between God and man. Our debt was paid in full...if you believe it as I do. Praise the Lord!!! It was God's grace!!!

"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life."

Additionally, this is what it says in John 14:6-9;

6 Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. 7 If you really knew me, you would know my Father as well. From now on, you do know him and have seen him."

8 Philip said, "Lord, show us the Father and that will be enough for us."

9Jesus answered: "Don't you know me, Philip, even after I have been among you such a long time? Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, 'Show us the Father'?

Before Jesus came on the scene, they had to atone for their sins directly to the Father. Jesus bore all of our sins on the cross and left us with the Holy Spirit as described in;

John 15:26
"When the Counselor comes, whom I will send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth who goes out from the Father, he will testify about me.

And remember, God is Holy and righteous and He wants us to be that way too. Every one of us sins on a daily basis and therefore must ask for forgiveness in the name of Jesus, DAILY. I hope this helps. Take care and God bless you.

The righteousness of God was given to David as credit as it were given to Abraham. David did need the Lamb’s sacrifice, just as everyone else of all times did/does, before and after Jesus, but the Sacrifice just wasn’t materialized until the appointed time. David’s faith allowed him to receive righteousness (Rom 10:10). All the sacrifices of the Old Testament were looking forward to the materialization of the Ultimate Sacrifice, Jesus the Lamb of God. As faith without works is dead, God Himself proved faithful to this principle. So He produced the actual works of sacrifice, not just talked about it and promised it in the Old Testament. God bless.

According to the Bible, The Almighty God cannot as much as look at sin. That is why He sent His Son to die for our sins, that if we were to believe in Jesus, His words, and, examples, through Him we will have everlasting life. In other words, The Almighty is the Judge, and the only Lawyer that can get you off the hook sky free,no time, no probation, no fines, is Jesus.

David had an amazing relationship with God. God chose David; As He did Enoch, as He did Job. They believed the words of the Prophets and followed the customs, sacrifices and commandments of the time to atone for their sins(that is why Jesus is referred to as the "Lamb". His sacrifice did away with all sacrifices). Jesus was trying to get his disciples and followers on that level. Through having faith. All flesh has fallen short of the glory of God, and according to His word, all you have to do is believe in Jesus, confess Him as your Lord and Savior and that He died for the sins of the world, believe it in your heart, try your best not to sin(as we all know that sin is inevitable), and live your life, you got a free ticket to heaven. It is so serious, that the Bible says to deny Jesus is to deny God Himself for He is God. So if you don't need Jesus, you don't need God; and He's the one handing out eternal life.

Or not...

We all have the free will to believe whatever we want. If YOU don't feel you need Jesus, then YOU may not; He's not for everyone!

Feel me?

The ' heavenly" class of Revelation 20; 4,6 did not begin to be filled until after Jesus commenced his preaching.
Thje number is limited to 144,000. A small number in the whole population of the earth.
(Acts 2:3-4) And tongues as if of fire became visible to them and were distributed about, and one sat upon each one of them, 4 and they all became filled with holy spirit and started to speak with different tongues, just as the spirit was granting them to make utterance.

King David was dealt with by Jehovah God, Jesus' father in heaven. King David is not part of the heavenly class. He awaits resurrection, being 'asleep' in death.
(Psalm 13:3) Do look [upon me]; answer me, O Jehovah my God. Do make my eyes shine, that I may not fall asleep in death,

David was subject to the laws of moses, which he violated. He had to offer sacrifices for his atonement.

We are subject to the new law. Jesus said "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except by me." He became our atonement - the ultimate once-for-all sacrifice for our sins, so that we were no longer subject to the old laws.

That's why we need Jesus. The Bible also says we are saved by grace, through faith in Jesus. It is a gift of God, not by works, so no one can boast.

What this means is that, through faith in Jesus, we are saved. David was saved because he repented and followed the laws of moses to atone for his sins through sacrifice.

Before Jesus there were a lot of rules, which Jews are still supposed to be following---Kosher and all that---and sacrifices. That was a little too complicated for man to manage so God gave us his son to die for our sins. Simple and straight forward. Whomsoever believer in him shall not parish but have eternal life. Many religions try to make it complicated again but it really isn't.

Jesus is the one who lived the perfect life and then once for all died the eternal death (from which he was resurrected) so that death no longer has power over us. There are many Christians who believe that King David is in heaven right now, but as far as I'm concerned the only OT characters in Heaven right now are Enoch, Elijah, and Moses, those of whom we have Biblical records of them being taken into Heaven. Other than that, I believe that the OT "heroes" will rise again at the second coming of Christ, just as all those who are dead at that specific time will rise again having died in Christ.

Everyone sin and because of our sin, we basically created a barricade between us and God.

Sin is very powerful isn't it? It can repel God.

God sent Jesus to be the door, the way, to God. Basically a hole thru that barricade of sins.

Do we need Jesus? No.

Why?

Because God chooses those whom He wants to save, with or without Jesus. So If I don't need Jesus, why am I a Christian? Because I'm a follower of the teachings, not of the person.
