Hi,
My kitten will always kick a big of litter out the front of her litterbox. Why does she do this? It makes such a mess!! I've bought one of those mats for under the litter box that stretches out her paws when she steps on it, so she doesn't track litter everywhere, but it gets all over the tile floor in the bathroom and it grosses me out! What can I do? She is really good about using her litter box and covering it up, so I am nervous about doing anything that would deter her....

Try replacing your current litterbox with another one, that has higher walls, that way she won't be able to throw the litter out, but instead the litter she kicks will fall back on her. Of course she will clean herself up and eventually she'll stop doing it, because it will be annoying to her too! :)

Cats just do that... I have no idea why. My cat is really weird... even after she's finished up in the box and burried everything, she gets out of the box and will continue to paw at the carpet like she's still burrying something. Weird.

Just get a box that has a cover, or if your kitten isn't comfortable with a covered box, there are boxes with frames around them that create a sort of shield to stop most of the litter from being kicked out.

Another option is to start using those crystal granuals instead of the standard litter because they don't track everywhere.

No matter what you do though, your kitten is bound to track some litter out as she goes... I just keep a light weight battery operated vaccuum in the corner and suck up the litter with it every couple of days.

does she do it while wanting to poop ? like does she get the litter out while digging or not?. if other than that then its how kittens r . its more of a way to play . kittens will play with anything and r too curious , so ur kitten is curious bout how litter will scatter around in the bathroom lol dont worry about it much she will get over it when shes older . i had 4 kittens that used to do this ,they might also play with the poop after few mins of doing it ,i know its gross but taking care of kittens isnt easy especially when it comes to litter box lol

good luck

Get a box that has plenty of room and a lid on it. There are some that look like a dome that we have for our cat and it seems to work better. They will get a little bit of litter outside there box but it shouldn't be that much when you get the correct litter box.

We solved this problem by buying a covered litter box, and also a little mat that you set outside the entrance to the litterbox to catch any litter that might be stuck to their feet. It works great!

If the lid doesn't work just lower the level of the litter. An inch on the bottom is enough, not 4" filling the whole thing.

All my kittens have always done that and my current one does too as well. I dont know why they do it but it is definitely annoying. Get a dome litter box that has a cover:)

Mine did the same thing so I bought one of those completely enclosed boxes and it worked great. Their too tall for them to kick litter out of.

Get a box with a lid or buy a tent (in the little aisle at PetsMart or Pet Co.)
