If people actually followed the Bible in terms of sex, would you say the world would be better overall?
People would be having lots and lots of hot dirty sex...but with only one partner, who has only been with them. That would be their spouse.
Therefore, great sex, and no:
-Teenage mothers and all the problems that go with that.
-No STI's/STD's
-No AIDS, which is wasting far too much money (billions!) for a 100% preventable disease (excluding rare exceptions like AIDS via a blood transfusion and rape, etc.). But remember, we wouldn't have the disease to begin with. Does anyone else see it as insane to spend billions on a preventable disease when it can be prevented by closing your legs?
-No unwanted children
-Your future children have no risk to be exposed to STI's.
-Better self esteem in many cases
-No regrets that one wishes they could take back (that girl you got it on with in the dirty bar bathroom perhaps?)
-A "gift" that is shared only with your future spouse.

And before anyone asks...yes, I waited. I will be banging my brains out shortly, as I am getting married soon. :) I already have the "hot dirty cop" outfit picked out...hehe..

Dude: AIDS is 100% preventable. This is NOT the case with cancer, liver disease, etc.

This is an honest question people. I'm not saying that teenagers don't want to have sex. Holy crap do I have a high sex drive, and I'm in my 20's. The point is to intelligently MAKE THE EFFORT to control yourself instead of pounding away like a mindless ape.

I find it rude that someone would assume I can't GET sex. Yeah right. I'm a female. ;) I'm quite attractive and fit although I hate to say it, and have a good personality. I have had LOTS of boyfriends. And good looking ones at that. I personally would rather TURN away guys that bang anyone who will hit it. That doesn't say much for your looks, or your standards.

Stay on task...I am not focusing on adultry or polygamy. Also, from what I understand, we are to follow the NEW Testament guidelines for marriage and sex.

Dude: Are you kidding? While many disease cases CAN be prevented, there are congenital heart diseases (born with), genetic forms of heart disease (familial cardiomyopathy), autoimmune liver disease, cancer due to a defective immune system (seems to be related to autoimmunity), the list goes on and on...I agree with what you are trying to say, but unfortunately, not all diseases are 100% preventable (in theory) like AIDS.

Sex IS to reproduce...within the context of marriage. Who here wants to be part of a baby daddy drama? Didn't think so...
God is NOT against sex.

According to the Bible, sex is to reproduce. That is its main purpose. It doesn't mean you can't enjoy it, just that it is a gift given to create life, not ONLY to selfishly pleasure oneself. That's why Catholic's don't believe in sex that is "not open" to reproducing. If you are infertile, you can still have sex with your husband, the idea is that procreation should not be blocked. Note that I am NOT including rare cases like a wife who may die if she becomes pregnant due to a health condition, etc. I'm sure God sees these cases as exceptions.

By blocked I mean (usually casual) sex with whomever using birthcontrol in the hopes to get off and NOT get pregnant.

If you are thinking that sex is about pleasure over creation, you are looking at it backwards from a Biblical perspective. Procreation should be the intent, pleasure should be the added bonus.

It depends upon where you are reading it. If you go back more than 1000 years, "the bible" accepted polygamy. For 5000 years or more all cultures and religions accepted polygamy. About 1000 years ago that upstart religion made it punishable by being boiled in oil because they wanted to control people and controlling the biological processes you really control people. Today the problem is that you are "stuck" with one partner, and it is not working out very well. Those who practice polygamy do not have any of those problems you described as well as a high divorce rate. That is for the monogamous amoung us. Swingers have a divorce rate of about 10% of the national average. They know something the rest don't.

Rather than preaching the bible's view on sex, I would rather preach SAFE sex.
We need a more comprehensive sex ed class in schools so that young adults are more prepared to make choices and don't feel pressured by their peers.
If we teach that sex comes with responsibility and shouldn't be taken lightly then there is less of a likelihood that we will come across problems. Statistics have shown that the poor and/or uneducated are more likely to fall into these traps.
What you are writing is an idealized version of what our society could be if there really was one, true love for every person out there. Not everyone has that. Consenting adults should be able to express their love for one another if they do it safely and harms no one.
And BTW, just because I chose not to wait doesn't make me a **** or whore. I was choosy about my partners and only became physically intimate when I was in love. I'm now in a monogamous 5-year relationship and am getting married next year!
If sex is only for reproduction, what about those who are incapable of reproducing? Are they not allowed to have sex then? Is every time you have sex with your partner you are thinking yessssss I'm gonna make a baby? I don't think so. Sex is about expressing love and intimacy with another person, connecting with someone... Pregnancy is what MAY result in this connection but isn't the ULTIMATE reason why people have sex.

It would solve a lot of our current problems, but it will never happen. The world is too secular and there are many religions that don't have the bible as their holy book. The only way this could even work is a confincing argumant that does not incorporate religion - and you have some very good arguments.

Of course if people lived by the regulations in the Bible then the world would be a better place. That goes for Christians and non-Christians alike.
PS. Remember that your future husband is not a machine. He has to rest sometime! Dont lose the key to the handcuffs either. That makes for an embarassing situation. Enjoy marriage! (three kids later and I still am... enjoying marriage)

First of all, you're mistaken about what the Bible says about sex. If you follow the Bible, it's legal to sell your daughter into slavery (apparently sexual slavery) as sanctioned by Exodus 21:7-11. Or having an angry mob rape your daughters as sanction by Genesis 19:8. I could go on.
But what's offensive to me is this: "Does anyone else see it as insane to spend billions on a preventable disease when it can be prevented by closing your legs?"
No more so than spending billions curing heart disease when it can be prevented by eating a low fat diet. Or billions curing liver disease when it can be prevented by avoiding alcohol, Tylenol, etc. Or billions curing skin cancer when it can be prevented by wearing SPF 100.
---
EDIT: Heart disease is perfectly preventable. You can't get heart disease unless you abuse your heart. Same with liver disease, lung cancer, skin cancer, and *most* diseases.
If you only research non-preventable diseases, you're stuck with a handful of purely genetic disorders like type 1 Diabetes.

Amen sister. I'm in the same boat as you. I have also waited and am getting married soon as well. It has not been easy, but that's one of the things that makes the gift so special for my future wife. (And for anyone who is curious I'm 28 and am marrying a doctor. I mention that she's a doctor because medically speaking she totally agrees with the idea of waiting until you are married.)
You may want to check this link out as well. This guy has a lot of great articles (for free) and awesome books on the subject.

The Bible has it right. It indicates that the marriage bed is undefiled so have a blast with your costume. So you also have it right. Many girls will do anything to catch a guy and then very little. You sound like you are doing nothing to catch him and then a lot. Hope you have a happy marriage!!

And if we followed the bible, we would stone people to death for ridiculous infractions.
Anyone on paper can suggest a "perfect" system. Your suggestion does not address:
-human nature. there are always people who take advantage of oththose who follow the rules, especially those in power.
-remarriage in the case of death or abandonment
-spousal abuse
-teenagers always have sex, and always have, no matter what the rules are.
-couples who realize that they are incompatible
-once you have a biblical authority, you start seeing "moralists" deciding who can and cannot marry, based on their own bigotries.
humanity is not a one-size-fits-all creature.
never has been, never will be.

lol if you read your bible, people had lots of sex back then. Israelites loved their concubines. People had the clap back then too. The only reason the bible makes a case for virginity--has to do with property laws. If a woman wasn't a virgin when the man married her, how would he know that his first born child was his. would someone elses son inherit? Was the reason for the double standard for women in the bible. Simply has to do with property rights and heirs. Nothing moral about it. Something any society learns and codifies.

I think it would lead to alot of unhappy marriages. People getting married quickly just to have sex.
I really don't trust men enough for this. Why live your life around the idea that you are saving yourself for one person. Then that person turns around and has sex with that whore in the bar.
