My sister-in-law had a lollipop maker at her reception and the kids had a ball learning/making lollipops.

It depends on the ages of the kids. Generally, kids under 2 or 3 aren't going to be able to self-entertain anyway. If you've got younger kids, gather up some coloring books, crayons, etc., at the dollar store, and turn them loose. If your kids are older, nothing beats electronics. If someone you know has a playstation, kids of all ages LOVE Dance Dance Revolution--heck, even grown ups love that one!! Make sure any games you get are for all ages. You might also want to put the kids in an adjacent room--so they're not bothering the other guests--just get an adult to be in there with them. I'd also have a tv/vcr in there with a collection of videos (nothing rated higher than PG), for when kids start getting tired. Also, make sure you have kid friendly food for them--this can be as easy as calling Domino's. If in doubt, ask their parents what they would like for their children. Hope this helps you! Good luck!

Most clubs will allow the baby sitter to have the lounge
after the receiving hour. Once the meal gets started, the
music, the toasts she can bring out the two scrabble
boards. Have a small fun prize for the winner of the two
levels both played right in front of the sitter, and give out
homemade scrabble letters in the gift bags. Each young
person gets a small bag of homemade prizes, a cookie
from the wedding wrapped for later, and a blessing card
they can fill in and give to the bride. Crayon prizes for
the children, maybe colored pencils for the tweens.
Some items ideas include, mcburger snacks for tweens,
candy, tic tac toe plastic clings, stuffed animals.
Offer 100.00 for the day and get someone that will play a
music show, do magic, or keep them interested. This is
really helpful that they eat away from the adults and give
them a break. Blessings for the holiest sacrament.

We made a "kiddie lounge" special for them in one corner.
Borrow tons of pillows and cushions and maybe a coffee table or two. Toss on the ground and cover with fabric in the wedding colors.
Bring a TV from home and a DVD player and ask the parents to bring their children's favorite movies and a few games.
Get PVC pipe from the hardware store and you can use that and fabric to make them a privacy wall.
The kids loved it because it was their own "zone" and it was a great place for some of the younger ones to crash out.
Toss like $50 to two of the older children to keep things in line and you're set.

1st - either hire babysitters to do activities or ask for a few of the parents to volunteer to watch over the kids. or maybe the parents can take turns.
2nd - buy crafts, coloring books, toys that aren't too messy and have the sitters/adults guide them through doing the stuff. if you are having a theme wedding maybe the kids could do something related (say Halloween theme, the kids could color pumpkins or make craft pumpkins - - those foam kits are excellent!!).
3rd - get them onto the dance floor for the goofy chicken dance or other kid-friendly dances.

You really just gotta leave them the opportunity to play with each other. Kids like to run around, so dont pick a place with no space. Could set up a table with a bunch of coloring books, i wont suggest anything with paints or glue since its prolly fancy dress. But you can toss a bunch of ballons on the table and assign some of the teenaged onces to keep them busy.

During the reception, you can have a table for the kids with fun "wedding activities" Like coloring. But have events specifically for kids.

I dont have oodles of kids coming, but i have a few, so i am doing a seperate table with crayons and coloring books, and possibly a portable DVD player with some movies for them to watch.
but i have found that most children just love to be on the dance floor once the DJ starts playing upbeat music.
Good Luck and Congrats.

I had "heaps" of children too. They pretty much entertain each other or dance. I had small candies for them (don't do chocolate) and coloring books. This kept them busy enough.
Here's a link to the coloring books.

a lady i take advantage of to infant sit down for did this at her wedding ceremony. She requested if she ought to employ me and a pal to "babysit" in the course of the marriage. We had 2 tables set contained in the again of the room that had paper table clothing. the toddlers had dollar keep products which comprise coloring books, vehicles, books, ect. We also had 3 play pens set up for the fairly youthful ones. It change into type of like a small nursery contained in the again. father and mom ought to drop off the toddlers with diaper bags and their own toys. youngsters were given wristbands with father and mom names so we knew who to call if we had a situation. the father and mom fairly like this because they were waiting to have a sturdy time yet see their toddlers. also even as the track got here on they did have some songs only for the toddlers. very last they served warm dogs and hamburgers to the toddlers. countless places that cater you could ask them for a youngsters menu and they'll carry it alongside with them. this will also forestall funds. sturdy success and congrats.
