This may seem a daft question, but I have a tom who is fixated with the remote controls for the TV, etc. If I pick one up he stares at it for ages. If I use the DVD control to open and close the drawer he becomes even more fascinated and will sit and stare at the drawer for hours on end. I don't know whether he sees something humans cannot, or whether the drawer is akin to a mouse nest which cats will,of course, sit morionless in front of for long periods.

I've wondered about that myself. For years, I've heard that cats couldn't see in color but now the thinking is that they can at least see some colors. They do have good eyesight and that sense is their most dominant one, followed closely by hearing. The difference between their eyes and ours is that theirs are more adapted to seeing in low light and they can track moving objects such as insects. As a result, I would not be surprised if they can also see light that is invisible to us. It actually would make sense to be able to see infrared light in the dark. We use night scopes for that but there is no reason not to assume they can't do that naturally.

:D Lol! Cats. Curiosity probably. I don't think they can see infrared, he's probably thinking: "I was so SURE there wasn't anything in there... is it alive? O-o"
