I just read the introduction of the link and it's one of the most strident things I've ever read. Based on that, evolution is not only responsible for the "collapse" of Christianity but everything else that has gone wrong in the world. Did it also create Al-Qaeda? I have no problem with reconciling creationism and evolution. Why some go to such lengths to discredit one or the other, I do not understand.

Fossils are not a hoax. Fossilized remains of previously living plants and animals are scientific evidence. The entirety of the fossil record just happens to be very weak evidence for Darwin's theory that life sprang into existence by accident and evolved from a single cell common ancestor by the process of random mutation and natural selection.

The belief in "evolution", as a theory to explain the existence and variety of life, requires a religious faith in things unseen and things unexplained.

The answer is based on which religion you follow. In Islam we are told by God that his 6 days of creation are not like our days. The underlying meaning is that creation is a medaphor to explain how God created the universe. With his devine powder he put things into motion to create everything. It is not to be taken literally that it all happened in 6 acutal earth days. Evealution is correct in that the universe is billions of years old, but evalution can not explain where it all came from, this is where God comes in. He started the whole thing and made something from nothing and created everything needed for the universe to form.

Where's Church Lady when we need her? "Could it be..... Satan?"

I remember the first time I heard this. It was online (cause not even the people here in KY are that goofy) in a chatroom. I thought they were joking at first but one guy got VERY upset when I poked fun at it. He said I must have be demonspawn to mock such a serious issue. I thought I was going to die laughing. ;-)

oops

Nope, we don't disagree with the existence of fossils, just their age.

Did you know there is a cave in England that will fossil a teddy bear solid in less than ten years? Amazing, huh?

There are records from the Roman senate about a scientist who wanted to prove that "dragons" were not mythical beasts, they were just animals. So he went out and caught and skinned one, and brought it back to the senate. The skin of the animal stretched from one length of the senate floor to the other and it resembled a "large lizard hide."
Sounds a lot like a dinosaur, eh?

This isn't a drinking question, I have never heard anyone actually say that fossils are a hoax on R&S, and if I have its not very often.

Drinking quesitons are not just for idiotic quesitons but it is for annoying questions that are asked often by Christians and Non-Christians.

I dated a guy my freshman year in college who really truly believed this. He was honestly a really intelligent guy (nerdy even ~ graduated as an electrical engineer) but he was so indoctrinated that in areas where science conflicted with the literal interpretation of the bible ~ he always chose the bible. It was pretty amazing.

Sure and he wrote this book called the bible to disuade you from following the true faith of Islam. You have to admit if one thing is possible then logically anything is suspect including the book you worship.

Personally I can't stand Christians who would rather use an ignorant statement such as this rather then find a legitamate answer...it makes all other Christians look ignorant...it just makes life harder for us
