I am too! Luckily we have access to "Noggin" a 90% non-commercial station gear toward kids up to 7 years. But without this it is hard to keep commercial from our kids and sometimes our husbands / spouses. Remember it doesn't end when they grow up.
For my boys (and sometime with my husband) the rule is, if they want something new they have to give up two old toys. Usually, the old toys go to goodwill or I will sell it on craigslist to offset the cost. And I have explained it as "giving it the new babies". I created this phrase when my sons asked why I was giving donating there old clothes and toys. The phrase is silly but it was the only I could explain how not all babies or kids have access to new toys or things.

I think we have a lot more things to worry about than toy commercials, what about the cigarette, alcohol, or anything promoting sex. I am so tired of seeing it not only on the Tv, but when I am out and about. When he starts to beg for things, that is when the TV needs to go off.

Of course he does. That's why the advertisers pay so much money to have their ads on the shows he watches. Stick with public television. It's not completely ad-free, either, but it's a lot closer. Or TIVO and get rid of the ads. Or just watch videos.
Others are sick of it, too ... check out the campaign for a commercial-free childhood: www.commercialfreechildhood.org

I don't know how old your child is, but we're not introducing television until age 4 at which point, most will be recorded to a DVR which we can fast forward. It might take a little more effort, but you could record the shows and fast forward through the commercials.

I remember being like that when I was a little kid. It drove me crazy that my parents wouldn't buy any of them for me. Come on, who didn't want one of those Barbie Jeeps? But now that I'm older, I know what you mean!! Some of them are so expensive!! And you know that when your kid gets it, they'll play with it for a day or two and then forget about it.

I think all junk food and toys commercials aimed at children should be banned.

I AM! Every single commercial he says I want that, I want that. Also what bugs me is when they do previews of shows that don't come on for weeks then you have to hear about it forever.
