We are in our late 40s, dancing and clubs are not our interest. A cool bar we would love to know about. Any suggestions of things to see or while we are there. We are going in May. Thanks

Judging by your question I'm guessing you're looking for a quieter place off of Bourbon St. If cost is not a concern, I would recommend the Soniat House. It's a small, romantic place in the quiet area of the French Quarter. Another nice place with a more moderate cost is the Place d'Armes - it is a beautiful historic hotel.

As far as cool "non club" bars, if you're into Jazz I'd recommend the Maison Bourbon. It is on Bourbon St but it's an entirely different world inside. If you like martini's, try the Bombay Club. The Carousel Bar in the Hotel Monteleone is also an experience. And, the Napoleon House is a must. Have a great time, NOLA is beautiful in May!

We have stayed at the Omni Royal on Royal and St Louise for he past 11 years during Mardi Gras. The staff is very accommodating and It is a very nice clean hotel. They also have a Concierge that is helpful at telling you what you really what to know. They have a cool bar and also a wonderful restaurant on the premise. There are alot of good jazz and blues players in the bars in that area. Enjoy.

I like the Bienville House in the French Quarter. It's an old rice mill that was converted to a motel in 1967. It has wrought iron balconies, sun decks, and a splash pool. It is also rich in history.
