I'm 16, used to be "pleasently plump" (a.k.a. fat ) now i weigh 110 at the hight of 5'3
I have lost and kept off the extra weight not by fad but by simply learning to have healthier eating habits as a general rule...

You should try to drink 2-3 liters of water and unsweet tea every day and do lots of cardio exercises ( like jumping jacks and jump-rope) plus crunches.

Here is a pretty simple meal plan that you can manipulate to work for you

Breakfast=
One glass of skim milk
One fresh veggie of your choice
small bowl of plain cornflakes or other low-fat cereal

Lunch=
Tuna or Grilled Chicken
Salad without salad dressing or oil ( mustard, vinegar, low-fat cottage cheese, and oregano are good toppings to spruce up a salad)
One portion of steamed veggies
Unsweet tea, or water

Supper=
( supper should be your lightest meal because you won't burn many more kcals before going to bed)

Tea or juice
small salad without salad dressing or oil ( one spoonful of salad dressing usually has about 3 times the calories and 5 times the fat of a whole salad so use something else to spruce it up)

Snacks=
small portion pretzels
raw crunchy veggies

* You should only snack if you are very active and need the extra energy

*Don't use butter. Stay away from chips, brownies, cookies, chocolate, and other fatty or sugar-packed snacks

never go to bed right after eating... do some jumping jacks or run up and down a flight of steps a couple times before going to sleep if you eat supper late. ( and if you ever decide to skip a meal for dieting purposes, skip supper NOT breakfast)

It is important to find an eating style that you can be comfortable with and keep up.

You should also set a weight goal range for yourself now.... don´t let yourself go under or over the range you choose

I hope some of this stuff can be useful to you...

good luck!!

1] drink water - no soda, juice, milk, or added sugar to any drinks
2] no fruit or dairy
3] lots of veggies [ 5 servings a day ], average amt of meat [ 2 servings ], and only 2 whole grains [ read labels ] a day.
This will remove nearly all empty carbs, and sugars from diet.
Drink 1/2 gallon of water a day.
Take good vitamins with minerals a day.
DO NOT do this longer than two weeks - it is not balanced anough for any longer time.

Start reading labels, determine the amount of sugar for each *serving*...which could be a lot smaller than what you initially think.

Eat complex carbs like whole wheat, eliminate all simple sugars like white bread, rice, etc.

Absolutely no desserts...not even "fat free" ones, because they compensate by adding more sugar.

Don't drink any sweet coffees like Starbuck lattes or anything...they have a HUUUGE amount of sugar. No juices...stick to water.

It's do-able, it's just hard.
