First, income tax is money that goes to the government; I think you meant to ask if you can receive an income tax refund, which is basically a reimbursement for having too much tax taken out of your pay.
Second, even if you only worked for one hour out of the whole year, you can file a tax return and may receive a refund. A refund is actually more likely if you worked only a few months than if you worked the entire year. (This is because of the non-linear scale used to determine taxes.) It does not matter when during the year you worked. The amounts are calcuated based on total income.
I cannot tell you how much you will receive because I do not know how much was been withheld or how many hours you work each week. However, since you need not start work until October 22 and are making only $8 per hour, your tax for the year will probably be $0, so you should receive a refund of all "income tax" withheld (but not social security or medicare taxes), plus the earned income credit.

If you work 40 hours a week from now until the end of the year, you will earn about $2,800. You will owe no tax and not be required to file a tax return.
However, file that return, because you will get a refund. Any federal tax withheld will be refunded to you. If you lived with your qualifying child for more than half the year, you may also receive an Earned Income Credit of just under $1,000.
This assumes you are not claimable as a dependent on someone else's return, such as a parent.

"Receive your income tax?" What does that mean? You PAY income tax - or in your situation you probably actually don't owe anything. You'll be working around 10 weeks. You don't say if you are full-time, but if you are working 40 hours a week that would be around $3200.
If you have anything withheld for federal income tax, you should get it all refunded to you. If you are asking whether you'll be eligible for an earned income credit even though you only worked part of the year, yes you will be eligible - it should be around $1100.

The basis for filing taxes is not how long you've worked, but by how much you made while working.
If you're working, taxes are being taken from your check. So regardless if your yearly income is below the requirement to file, you'd want to to get back any if not all fed. and state taxes withheld.
You may also qualify for Additional Child Tax Credit and the EIC.
Just as a 'guess-timate', if you claim 0 on your W-4, you may get around an $800 refund.

It sounds like you should have no tax liability this year. That means you will get all Federal and State Income tax refunded to you after you file your income taxes. You can file, as soon as you get your W-2. Employers are required to have them out by 1/31/08, but you may get yours sooner.

You almost surely will end up with no tax liability. So if you file a 1040 or 1040EZ form, you'll probably end up with a full refund of any taxes withheld. You can file as soon as you get your w-2 form from your employer, which means Feb 1.
