Did you ever see "The Time Machine" (the 1960 one)? He wants us like the Eloi, blindly following a signal, like robots, without questioning anything.

When a child is born, everything is new and exciting. since they were of the spirit and not in a physical body, everything is new to them. That is why the love to explore everything, think bodily functions are so funny because it is new to them, get to experience things like tasting food, touching everything because the material world is new to them, are full of love because they have not been hurt. They do not know that other people are different because in the spirit world there is no competition, hate, sadness, power plays: because in what we choose to call heaven none of that exists because we are all one with God.Prejudice, Pain, hate, despair, suffering are things that we are not born with it is some thing we learn. The saying ignorance is bliss refers to if you are unaware of those things you are innocent. To sum it up, if you can spiritually return to the innocence a child has, you let go of all these negative things, freeing your spirit.
Also, there is a double meaning: we who are on a spiritual journey need to remember that as there are different stages as we mature in age, and hopefully if we stay on the right path our spirit grows stronger, brighter, and closer to God.

we weren't called wounded spirits or hurting children anywhere in the bible. We are called his children because we should follow him like a father. Where do people come up with this stuff?

We are the children of G-D yes, our minds are like children's in a way, that is why G-D offered us a free gift of life. unfortunately not all of his children know or love him or even try to seek him out.

No, the metaphorical key to his useage is that our authentic being was in awareness as a child. We have to 'put away childish things' - the conditioned defensive ego identity - in order to return to being that original innocent authentic child.

No. He meant "be as children." You know, before adults learned intolerance and hatred.

Mat 18: 1 At that time the disciples came to Jesus, saying, "Who is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?" 2 And calling to him a child, he put him in the midst of them 3 and said, "Truly, I say to you, unless you turn and become like children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. 4 Whoever humbles himself like this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. 5 "Whoever receives one such child in my name receives me, 6 but whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in me to sin, it would be better for him to have a great millstone fastened around his neck and to be drowned in the depth of the sea.

that's an interesting idea, but I think he called us to be like Children, because he wanted us to plant less, and hunt more. Hunting allows the land to remain wild, but farming causes us to destroy too much wilderness, not leaving any room for the rest of God's beasts.
