I tried Claritin OTC for my allergies, which are so bad that my ears tingle and go numb and are too stopped up to hear properly, but it was completely ineffective. Are there other OTC meds that may help?

Benadryl has usually been the standby anti-histamine for allergies, just don't try to operate any heavy machinery afterwards.

I use Sudafed 12 hour. I have to take 1 every morning. I only take the one dose a day because I really don't like using medication, but am worse in the morning. It helps a lot for me. My ears can get so plugged that I feel off balance. If you are having long term problems, you should consult a doctor or pharmacist because each of us is different as to what we can tolerate. All medication has side effects especially with high blood pressure. I don't like Claritin either. A lot of those meds like Claritin are really expensive and just don't work for me. Good luck.

Be carefull of the decongestants, nose sprays and antihistamines on the market. They will dry out your body and cause long term damage to the internal organs. Did you know that the leading cause of death in the elderly is kidney failure due to too much medication over time?
Try taking a teaspoon of LOCAL honey each day to help your body develop immunities to all the air born irritants around you-like mold, pollen, pet dander, smog, mildew and dust. If its in the air, LOCAL honey can work for you. Like all herbal remedies, it will take a while to become effective but you will also find that you get less cold and flu symptoms as well.
