Gambling is entertainment. Now if you are stupid and you play slots all day long you will lose your money. Most table games are like this too.

If you develop some skills you could sit at a poker table and perhaps break even or even make money.

Note the same can be said about stock trading. A day trader 'gambles' with their money too, right?

Virtually all casinos in Reno require you to be 21, but not because of gambling - because of the alcohol.

If you're near Reno, I would imagine (?) that means you're close to Northern California. If that's the case I'm pretty sure either Cache Creek or Jackson Rancheria allow the 18+ crowd. I'm not sure which, but both are huge and I think both are hotel/resort style.

As for is gambling a sin? Technically, anything not done in the Lord's name, or not done with the intent of furthering His word is a sin, or can be viewed sinfully. That means going to work, watching movies, etc, etc. But hey, if you believe in that, then you believe you'll be forgiven, anyway, right?

hahahahaha. Its funny that you put those two questions together.

Some people believe that gambling is a sin and others don't, so it just depends on what YOU believe. I'm pretty sure the gambling age limit is 21. I went to Vegas when I was 19 and I couldn't gamble.

No, gambling is not a sin, are you joking? Would you say that spending money for entertainment is a sin?

However, gambling can become addictive. You shouldn't gamble to win money because the odds are against you. Thinking of gambling as entertainment is healthier mind set.

I believe the gambling age limit is 18. I don't know if she can go to casino's though since they serve alchohol. You might want to call and ask.

Gambling is a sin according to some churches. Others espouse no opinion one way or the other. Personally, I don't accept that it is a sin.
Odd thing about Nevada: y'gotta be 21 to gamble, but you can work as a "hostess" at the Mustang Ranch at 18. Go figure...

Some religions express gambling as a sin. I'm sure there are bible quotes that will suggest that.

Being non-religious, I don't call it a sin. However, I have seen gambling ruin people's lives. But just as everything else, it can be abused in excess.

A simple $1 bet between freinds on a hometown football game can be fun and make it more interesting.

There is no age LIMIT for gambling, however I believe the minimum is 21.

I'm not so sure it is a straight-forward "sin"...however the thought is that if you have extra money to gamble with, and potentially lose, then that money could serve a better purpose by going to your church.

depends on what kind of gambling your doing, i live in washington state and u can play the lottery and scratch tickets and do bingo and horse race betting at age 18 but if u want to go into a casino and play the slot machines you have to be 21 in all of the casinos except for one, i believe its a choice by the casino based on how much they want to pay out for insurance cause the insurance rates probably run higher if u choose to allow 18yo's in your place vs 21 yo's. being as the legal drinking age is 21 in most every state.

No. It's not. It's poor stewardship of God's blessings, though.

Interesting: In Judaism, The Talmud lists the following people as invalid to serve as witnesses, and all the more so to serve as judges:

* Dice players--i.e., people who live off winnings from gambling

* People who lend out money on interest

* Pigeon raisers (two reasons given as to why this is problematic:

1) they train their pigeons to attract other people's pigeons--even if the other person only captured pigeons and never paid for them, still it is dishonest

2) they use them to race against other pigeons--another example of forbidden gambling)

Just thought I'd thow that out there for what it's worth!

All of Nevada is 21.
