The person doing 65 miles per hour, the legal limit, and everybody is passing up.

The majority of people passing him up, keeping up with the normal flow of traffic.

If the normal flow of traffic travels at 70, travelling under that speed can be dangerous. The law is the law, though. I was taught to drive in the right lane and use the left lane for passing. Many in the area where I live don't seem to remember that.

I am more concerned with the person drinking a coffee with a cell phone pressed to their ear, though.

In short, I believe it is all the ones passing traveling above the speed limit.
I've heard this before, using the phrase "normal flow of traffic". But, I think it is not a normal flow if the group is traveling beyond the speed limit. Speed limits are generally established as to be the safest maximum limit recommended at that particular spance of roadway where posted. I know I've read studies that traffic is safer where all traffic maintains the same speed. However, I think it is a misnoemer for people to forget that they are breaking the law travelling beyond the limit (regardless if there are a group of you) and that all those other drivers are creating a hazard by driving so slow.
The speedy drivers are creating the hazard because they would be safer by not breaking the law and slowing down to match that speed of the slower driver.

The biggest threat is the person running late. Unfortunately, that's about 75% of the people driving.

They tailgate, speed, make unsafe lane changes, and THEN when they are involved in an accident, they blame the guy cruising along at the speed limit breaking NO law.

The jackass doing 50 in the passing lane!

I speed on freeways myself, most of the time, but I don't have any problems with the people who are doing the speed limit. What irritates me, as I suggested in my response, is the people in the left lane, going slower than the people in the right, and seeming oblivious to the cars behind them. Oh, and the impatient a$$holes who are doing like 100, and weaving in and out of lanes, cutting people off and tailgating anyone they can't immediately pass.

1.the slow moving driver in the left lane and 2. the driver weaving in and out of traffic going way above the speed limit .
driver #1 is more likely to cause an accident and the 2nd driver is more likely to hit someone else

The people that are driving over the speed limit. As long as the slower drive keeps to the slower lanes, the others, who are driving faster pose a larger threat to themselves and to others.

It is a simple fact that the faster one drives, the greater the risk of collision, injury and death. That's why they HAVE speed limits and that's why speeders get citations.
