Because the Holy Spirit I have received by the laying on of hands & with the sign of praising God in tongues & who healed me from a breakdown told me to toss their book out. While their Spirit tells them that the Mormon book also the Word of God. And the Mormon book explains what is written in the Holy Bible.

So? Why does their Spirit tell them something different than the Holy Spirit of Jesus Christ of Nazareth in the Holy Bible tells Christians of a Christian Church founded on the Rock (Jesus Christ, the Son of the Living God)?

Is their Spirit associated to the spirits they baptize for when they baptize for the dead? Or the spirit children still in their pre earth state? Or is their Spirit who they think are Gods Angels?

cadisney, In the bible, those who baptized in the dead didn't even believe in the resurrection. To be a born again Christian, one must believe in the resurrection. This was a cultist act of a cult that didn't believe in the resurrection. And this is the only time baptizing for the dead is written about in the bible.

diyonisis, I don't believe the devil is possesing mormons. Probably some. But I do believe that these spirits are familiar spirits. Not the Holy Spirit. And Jesus said that blasphemy of the Holy Spirit isn't forgiven today or tomorrow. So? I wouldn't call the Holy Spirit of the Holy Bible familiar Spirits, like the Pharasees accused Jesus of. Because there are conscequences to this. And I don't want any mormons to accuse the Holy Spirit who anointed me to be demonic either. So? I know that the anointing I received is the Spirit of Truth who leads me into all truth. But also teaches comparing spiritual with spiritual. And the mormon spirits can't agree with the Holy Spirit of the Holy Bible. The Bible is accurately written. Mormons think you need the mormon book to understand what the bible writes.

alwayssab, the devil will tempt people to go after other gods. This is one test the LORD God told Israel. If the prophet prophecies & the prophecy comes true but then the prophet tells them to go after other gods, then that is a false prophet who needs to be stoned to death. Even if the prophecy came true.

Dionysis, Possessed & blinded are two different words. Possessed is when demons own someone or take over a person. Like when Satan entered Judas. Or like when demons possessed people & they cut themselves & Jesus cast the demons out. And blinded is when the devil blinds people to Gods salvation provided through faith in Jesus Christ, the Son of the living God. That He shed His blood for remission of our sins. That what Jesus did is sufficient for our salvation. That we receive eternal life. That is Grace. We don't have to pay for it. We receive it. Grace is undeserved favor. We need only realize that we have nothing to give to God. That we are repentent & need a Savior. Nothing I could do could earn me eternal life. Only to receive Jesus Christ atonement for my sins.

whaping, My motives are simple. I'm trying to discern the difference between the Holy Spirit & the Mormon Spirits. Because the Holy Spirit in the Christian Church confirms the Holy Bible alone is true (Mormon book false) to all who are baptized in the Christian Church by the Holy Spirit. And the Mormon spirits confirm the Bible (as long as it is interpreted correctly) & the book of Mormon is the Word of God. The bible writes that the Holy Spirit is One Spirit & won't contradict Gods Word & confirms the Word of God. And who leads us into all truth.

So I am trying to bring to light that the Mormon spirits & the Holy Bible Holy Spirit are incompatible. Not the same Spirit.

I am coming to the conclusion that the Mormon spirits are familiar spirits (Wordly spirits or demons.). I wouldn't write that if I didn't believe it. Because blasphemy of the Holy Spirit isn't forgiven today or tomorrow. So? God would discipline me if I were wrong.

I haven't heard that Mormons test the spirit that told them that the Book of Mormon is true.

I think perhaps Mormon's are "too willing to listen" to the "super apostle", Joseph Smith, and end up listening to demons or even Satan himself.

1 John 4:1 Dear friends, stop believing every spirit. Instead, test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world.

2 Corinthians 11:4-5 For if someone comes along and preaches another Jesus than the one we preached, or should you receive a different spirit from the one you received or a different gospel from the one you accepted, you are all too willing to listen. (5) I do not think I'm inferior in any way to those "super-apostles."

2 Corinthians 11:13-15 Such people are false apostles, dishonest workers who are masquerading as apostles of Christ. (14) And no wonder, since Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light. (15) So it is not surprising if his servants also masquerade as servants of righteousness. Their doom will match their deeds!

cadisney - Yes. That is honestly what I think. That is why it's so important to share the truth. God loves us greatly, but He's also just. It tells me that God does what He says and He is trustworthy. It tells me that Jesus wasn't kidding around when He said He was the ONLY way to the Father and he was dead serious when He said false Christ's will come to deceive people so watch out!

Matthew 7:22-23 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? (23) And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

God is strong enough to protect the Bible which was, is and always will be true. If you don't believe that, what does that say about the God you believe?

P.S. So we have 2 books. The Bible and the Book of Mormon. If they disagree (and they do on certain things), one is wrong and one is right. We have 2 types of testimony given by spirits. One says the Book of Mormon is wrong and one is right. There is a way to know which one is right. The Bible itself gives this challenge and says any prophet that is not 100% accurate is not from God.

Deuteronomy 18:21-22 And if thou say in thine heart, How shall we know the word which the LORD hath not spoken? (22) When a prophet speaketh in the name of the LORD, if the thing follow not, nor come to pass, that is the thing which the LORD hath not spoken, but the prophet hath spoken it presumptuously: thou shalt not be afraid of him.

Please check out the accuracy of the Bible prophecies and compare with Joseph Smith's prophecies.

Joseph Smith prophesied that the Civil War would pour out into all nations (Doctrine and Covenants 87:2-3). It did not.

Joseph Smith prophesied in 1835 to "go fourth to prune the vineyard for THE LAST TIME, OR THE COMING OF THE LORD, which was night, even 56 years should wind up the scene. (History of the Church, Vol 2, p. 182).

The "scene" did not wind up by 1891.

He prophesies David W. Patten would go on a mission trip in about a years time (Doctrine and Covenants 114). He died within the year.

Jesus taught in parables, (we have no reason to believe the Holy Ghost would differ) so that those who were ready to hear certain levels of truth would....and those who were not ready would hear a story with different meaning. You take from teaching what you are looking for. But in the end - D got it right. It's one or the other.

The spirit we "use", is that of the Holy Ghost carried through the line of priesthood from Jesus. It is not 'spirits of the dead', or of those who may not have gained a body on earth as yet, nor is it angels. It is the Holy Ghost, whose power can come upon a person before baptism and witness that the gospel is true. But the right to have the constant companionship of the Holy Ghost, whenever one is worthy, is a gift that can be received only by the laying on of hands by a Melchizedek Priesthood holder after authorized baptism into the true Church of Jesus Christ. You have to decide - with the help of the power of the Holy Ghost - which one that is.

Good luck, and peace go with you.

EDIT: "phrog, What about Jesus Christ, who is our High Priest & King after the order of Melchezedek. And it is Jesus Christ babtism of Spirit & Fire we are baptized with."

Agree. Exactly what I said.

You mean the baptisms of the dead that Paul acknowledges in the Bible was being done as standard practice back then?

How arrogant for you to assume that the spirit that told you to throw the book out is any more valid than the one that tells me the book is true.

The spirit that testifies of truth is the Holy Ghost. It is the same spirit that testified of truth in the Holy Bible. You cant prove that your spirit is anymore that of Christ then the one I claim testifies to me.

Your entire premise is based on the fact that because you say something is true it must be true. Well I can claim that, too.

Mike
Mormons are taught as very young children to pray and to ponder all things presented to them and to find the truth of all things for themselves. We are taught not to rely on the testimony of others but to ask of God if things are true. Your faith will never be very strong if you are only relying on what other people say is true instead of finding out the truth for yourself.
I dont understand why people that think we are being deceived cant understand that mormons could turn around and use that exact same argument against their faith.
Do you really think a good and loving God would allow his children, that are actively seeking truth, to be so deceived that they would end up in a fiery burning hell forever? That is what a lot of christians think about mormons. What does that say about the God you believe?

Interesting.

It would appear that you do not really seek an answer to your question, but rather to brag about your own "conversion" as well as to raise doubts about our faith by posting snippits of things that you have heard about our church.

The incomplete assertions that you make may, in turn, cause others to also draw incorrect assumptions about our church. This will breed further mistrust and animosity amongst people, perhaps angering some members to defend themselves and others to join in the mormon bashing.

A rational person might very well question your own motives in posting this as well as question the spirit to which you are listening.

Just a thought.

If you are simply being angry, hateful, or closed minded, then clearly you are not reading the Bible either.

Try this. Since as a Christian you must believe in prayer, you know that the Devil will never tempt someone to pray to God. Ask God, with a sincere heart, your question. Ask him expecting an answer, and ask him without presuppossing that you already know everything. Ask in prayer if you should try reading the book that you so callously tossed out.

God would never thwart His children from seeking truth. If it's not true, then what can it hurt you?

I think a lot of people tend to mistake emotion for "spiritual witness"... this goes for Mormon Christians and Non-Mormon Christians alike.

Everybody reacts and acts according to their causes and conditions (i.e. understanding, ability to understand, etc.) of wht they see and hear. What works for you might not work for anyone else, and vice versa... but the baseline to your question simply seems to appear that LDS makes them happy and what you do makes you happy. That's a good thing. All sentient beings wish to be happy and strive to do so, so as long as one does it with altruism, wisdom and compassion, the rest is gravy.
