to examine his poop to see if the pup has parvo - the test was negative. The vet has taken blood samples to do more tests.
My pup was completed on all his shots last sat (oct 20). My pup threw up 2 times 2 days ago and 2 times today. He has loose stools(2 time today). We did change his treats in the last 2 days, since his sickness, i have stopped giving him treats. We haven't taken him to dog parks, but he has been going to puppy trainning class in petsmart. I am terrified. He seems fairly active, but is tired from the throwing up and lack of full meals. He was perfectly fine yesterday, he threw up on Monday and this morning. The vet has given him meds . I hope this isn't parvo. Has anybody seen such incidents in their puppies?
Please tell me this isn't parvo...please

thanks for your answers.
His appetite is good. he does not throw up after food, it is usually well after food - say after 6-7 hours, during his sleep. He is eager to play. He smells of vomit, but nothing too bad. His body temp is fine, no fever. he gags, but doesn't throw up. He seems to have lot of Gas as well, he sits in his poop position and passes gas - 4-5 times. His stools just got watery - just once. The vets given me special food, to mix with white rice. He ate breakfast and is sleeping now.

just because a puppy is sick does not mean he has parvo

now you say your vet tested him for parvo and it came back negative ... excellent sign

granted you can receive a false negative early on in the disease but from how you describe your puppy he does NOT show signs of parvo

symptoms of parvo usually begin with a very high fever, lethargy, depression and loss of appetite

followed by secondary symptoms of stomach distress, vomiting and a severe foul smelling bloody liquid stool

you also say your pup is fairly active, another excellent sign

you mention he was eating a different treat .... what treat was he eating

also what did the vet tell you to attempt to feed him or what instructions did he give to you

it is more than likely the little guy picked up some type of stomach parasite and will be just fine following the vet's instructions

When I have a pup with a upset tummy, I stop feeding them their regular food. Wait about 4 hours or so. Then I offer some baby meat mixed with baby rice cereal flakes and some water. Just a little depending on the size of the puppy. These are available in the baby food section of the grocery store. My guys like the Beechnut chicken best in a little jar. If that goes OK all that day, I increase the quantity the next day. If still doing well by evening of the second day, I gradually add back in the food that was agreeing with puppy before he got sick. If vomiting and diarrhea still continues after withholding food a few hours and trying the baby food, I'd go back to the vet. I'd also go back right away if it gets worse. Sometimes puppies need some Sub Q or IV fluids to get them going again. Years ago, my only puppy threw up a off and on in spite of everything. He was at the vet getting fluids every month or so. Finally the vet put him on pancreatic enzymes. He got better. After several months we stopped the enzymes. Today he is elderly and never sick.

Unfortunately, a negative test does not rule out parvo. The virus has a short period of viremia (virus in the blood) and delayed shedding in the feces. Parvo is not a death sentence though!!! Usually if it's parvo, the vet will isolate the dog in the clinic and keep it on supportive therapy until it stops vomiting and is eating well. Since this dog is suspected of parvo, DO NOT let it have contact with any other dogs. Supportive care is key right now. Your puppy needs fluids to keep him hydrated and antibiotics because parvo can make dogs suseptible to a secondary bacterial infection.
It could also be a reaction to the vaccine, since it was in such a close time proximity. Just keep in communication with your vet and don't be afraid to voice your concerns. Sorry I don't have better news, but it just sounds like parvo to me.
*added* ahh, no fever. That makes a difference! Doesn't sound like parvo anymore. It could be a bacterial infection, but I don't know. Keep up with the vet's recommendations and monitor him carefully so that you can relay it to the vet. The more info the better!

You should have had her examined on Monday. Most breeders require a vet visit within 48 hours of receiving the pup. No breeder refunds vet bills. They either give a refund or a replacement. Look at your contract and see what it says. You can always bring the puppy back to her, but I wouldn't get another one from her as by now the whole litter has it and it has infected the house. You also cannot bring an unvaccinated pup into your home without a thorough cleaning, including bleaching the yard. Throw out collars, leashes, toys, bedding, etc and bleach your house down. Parvo is highly contagious and stays in porous material for many months.

If the parvo test was negative, it's highly UNlikely it's parvo, though I have heard of a few false negatives. Continue giving the meds as directed and make sure he gets plenty of water to drink and a bland diet for several days. If he's still having symptoms by tomorrow or the next day, TAKE HIM BACK TO THE VET.

Also, since he's sick -- DO NOT take him to puppy classes! If he has something contagious, you could get MANY other dogs sick. Besides, the poor guy needs time to rest. It's doubtful you're really getting any "training" done if he feels too crummy to give his full attention to you.

My puppy had similar symptoms to yours and the vet said it could possibly be distemper or an upper respitory infection. An upper respitory infection are the first stages of distemper and there is no test out there to actually know if the dog has distemper or not. My pup was throwing up, retching, loose stools, not eating much along with a runny nose. She was given a lot of fluids a long with a lot of meds. to clear up her infection. Unfort. if it is a virus there's not much to do but to wait it out...It's been two weeks now since the last visit to the hospital and shes doing better but still is gagging...I hope everything is alright with your pup! I KNOW how worriesome it can be and expensive....but they're worth it :)

I would get him an xray to see if he has a foreign body in his belly, he may have eaten something that ha gotten stuck and that is why he is vomiting because the food cannot go down. You know how much puppies get into everything. I would also feed him a very bland diet for a few days to see if that helps things...cottage cheese and some boiled chicken or some boiled chicken and white rice....hope this helps and I hope he gets better soon.

Also be careful of what kind of 'treats" you give your pet. Changes in diet can cause stomach upset, diarrhea and vomiting. Most advise that changes in food should be phased in over a 7-10 day period to avoid problems.

I had so many problems with my dogs that I feed them kibble dog food only at all times and I get my treats from the vet, same brand name each time. No changes. So since implementing that program several years ago, I have had no problems with diarrhea, vomiting etc., and their stool is very consistent.

Generally, they get a series of vaccines that are completed at 16 weeks.
I would keep in contact with the vet. It can still be PArvo even if the test was negative, but hopefully it is not.

If it was pavo, he would be sick all the time and really lethargic. It kinda sounds like a virus or something he ate. If he's not better in a day or so, take him back to the vet. Weaken immune systems can be like a magnet to secondary viruses or other sicknesses.
