Ok so...I am dieting and if i am counting my calories for the day and i prefer to eat a corndog with a total of 200 calories(including katchup) Why would i choose a protein bar with 240 calories for the bar. Is the protein bar(eas)still the better choice? And why? I know it has something to do with sugar and carbs, but im not counting sugar/carbs...should i?

A calorie is a calorie for weight loss purposes. It doesn't matter where it comes from. For OTHER purposes however, like lowering triglycerides, cholesterol, etc. there are reasons to count fat and carb grams.

Neither are good choices. The corndog is pure fat and and empty calories..( and who told you a corndog had only 200 calories??? they're about 450 minimum plus the ketchup calories). The other bar thing is going to mostly sugars and fillers. A better choice here would be a tuna sandwich on whole wheat with a piece of fruit.. Anyway have a look at some dieting sites for better food choices. And I don't see an exercise program here..you won't lose much by just calorie counting alone.

Different types of foods are processed by your body differently. Thus items with the same or similar calories counts won't necessarily be processed the same and can have more positive or negative effects on your metabolism.
