I think we created God and then God created us, metaphorically speaking.
Philosophically, your question relates to how duality emerged from an absolute unity and the relationship between a First Cause and the phenomenological universe.

Do monkeys create God? or did they created God after He created them? Either way, i don't believe any animal are capability of doing any of the above (not to mention think of it) because they are creatures of a lesser intellegence... They can't think or ponder on the existance of other creatures that or the world itself. Every living organism are complex... which make us human wonder who created this earth and the inhabitants of this world.
Can we create another human being or an animal if we can gather all the raw materials or components need to build one? It impossible... and i believe there's an architect/ creater for everything that we see, feel, and sense. Humans from ancient time (from different culture and region of the world) believed in a Greater Being for thousand of years. The god that one worshipped might different from one culture to another... but there's a possiblilty that He is the same one but referred to, by different name.
We are born with the capability to think, unlike animal, and having 2 billion people, believing on the same thing can't be wrong, that there is a God...
So to answer this question, I do believe that God created us and gave us a gift that set us apart from a common animal. Thru' this gift, we are able to think and reason, and thru' this, we are able acknowledge God's existance.

Genesis 1:
26 And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.
27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.
I believe we were created after his own image and he is our eternal and heavenly father

God always existed and He created all things. He knows all things and He is omnipotent. There is overwhelming evidence for His existence and for creation. There is no evidence at all for the atheists.Evolution is bankrupt because of lack of proof. The oposite is proven.
