I am a very disappointed owner of a new tundra with a cracked tailgate! This is the plastic inside liner that broke from loading a 4 wheeler. Dealer tells me it's abuse on my part.
Well my old truck (GM) took alot more abuse than this gas guzzler without a problem. Would you consider this abuse on my part?

You may work at Toyota Michael G. but I am not the only person to have this problem. There are all kinds of people complaining about their gates cracking or breaking under normal wear and tear.

Do you also have the camshaft problems or got a six speed transmission that shudders and won't shift? Not much you can do about the mileage, they are pigs on gas. ( From your green car maker! )
If you can't put a 4 wheelr in your truck, what can you do with it?
It's unfortunate that people are buying these based on the toyota name, which is crumbling with recalls and quality issues all over the planet. People are paying a premium for a truck that is inferior to the domestic trucks on many many levels.

It probably was Abuse. I work at Toyota and have never seen them Broken and i work in a Town where Everybody owns a Truck so they all Get USED. Now if it was the bedliner that broke thats somebody elses fault as Toyota does not Produce Tundras with bedliners. So either you or the dealer had that installed.

Tacomas had a TSB about tailgate issues so Tundra may have a problem as well. I'd complain to Toyota. If they don't replace it I'd keep the repair bill. If they issue a TSB you may get reinbursed. BTW, GM had a recall on tailgate cables. Lots of bent tailgates. No one builds them like the used to.

You mean you actually used a truck like a truck? That probably is abuse for those foreign plastic trucks. Should have stuck with the GM.

If it cracked from your loading an ATV, it's not a defect....just bad design. Not much you can do other than make something to cover it when loading your ATV in the future. Or buy GM again.

Check your warranty documentation. Then find the # for the Toyota district manager. Keep kicking it up until you find someone who has the power to say YES. Anybody (like your dealer) has the power to say NO.

HAHA!! That's what you get for buying a TOYota. I guess next time you'll learn that if you want to use your truck for what it's intended for, you need to buy American.
