a hate crime is a crime targeting a specific group, whether it be race, ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, whatever because the person is a member of that specific group

most crimes have nothing to do about the victim, these are specifically about the victim

most "normal" crimes are crimes of opportunity

car jacker sees person getting into car in dark street

burglar sees no one is home in a house

mugger sees person with nice shoes or jacket

not specifically targeting the person for who they are

it was enacted at the Federal level to allow the federal government to step in and press charges in cases where the local authorities fail to do so

A "Hate Crime" is a terminology and law developed by the liberals in Washington during the Clinton administration that says if you harm or kill someone and they determine it was because the victim was a minority, the perpetrator will get a harsher sentence than if the crime was committed for any other reason. A stupid law really because harming is harming no matter who the victim is. But, liberal lawmakers spend a lot of time doing crap like that.

Most people would define a hate crime as a crime being committed for the hate of another race. There is generally no premeditation(planning to commit the crime) but rather these crimes tend to be spontaneous. In reality they should be called racial crimes.

A crime toward an individual that is inspired by the offender's feelings toward an entire grouping of people to which the victim happens to belong.

If you kill your blonde girlfriend because she cheated on you, that's murder. Or some would call it a crime of passion. But if you murder a blonde girl because you hate people with blonde hair, that could be considered a hate crime.

It's an unofficial description of certain types of crime. It has nothing to do with liberalism or conservatism. It's been turned into a "liberal" term because conservatives have historically tended to be the ones who more fiercely feel or justify hatred toward homosexuals, blacks, or other groups. This hatred of a group fueled many crimes throughout history that had nothing to do with the individual victim, but instead the race or other group to which the individual happened to belong.

No. There are crimes of passion and crimes driven by money and other causes. A hate crime is a crime driven SOLELY by "hate" for the victim. For example, a robbery is driven by money, therefore it is not a hate crime. A husband who kills his wife has commited a crime of passion driven by anger or mental instability, therefore it is not a hate crime. I mean, he loved her enough to marry her... so go figure. A "hate crime" is a crime driven by prejudice in which the attacker chooses his victim based solely on their hate for a particular race, sexual orientation, blah blah blah.

A hate crime is when a white person does anything to somebody of another race that Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton and the rest don't like. Hate crimes can only go that way. Other races can do whatever they want to whites and it is not a hate crime. I believe that is somehwere towards the end of the libs Bible.
