I am president of a local women's group that would like to do some good for the troops and would like to get some ideas of what we should send in packages or an organization that would handle sending said packages.

Any help is appreciated. Thank you.

anysoldier.com is good.

I sent care packages myself and I have some tips. Try to send the packages in small boxes so that it's easier to ship to other places. Write a list of the items and keep it with you so that you can write it down on the custom's label.

Also, try to think of the soldier, what could they actually use in the desert? If it's food, it must be nonperishable and non liquid. Also, keep the items small so that the soldiers could carry them around wherever they go.

Try to keep food separate from the other stuff because the other stuff might contaminate the food.

I hope this helps.

One more thing, it's always helpful to send a card or a message of encouragement. It is sure to brighten any soldier's day.

This website has links to multiple groups that support our troops, including groups that send Care Packages:

List addresses of soldiers, what brance they serve in, sometimes what they need. There is often a listing of whether or not they get mail. You are instructed to check the list each time you send anything, because the move around a lot.
