It's also called Staph, and the MRSA is a form extremely resistant to antibiotics.
Basically it is a condition of the skin and people with good immune systems do not have to worry a lot. The infection spreads because of the close proximity of people in schools and hospitals.
One way to try to avoid getting it is to wash your hands very often, and to cover any open sores on your skin(like a bleeding scratch)with a band aid in order to reduce the risk of getting it.
The first signs of MRSA/Staph are little bumps that look like a spider bite or boil.

MRSA also known as the "hospital bug". Because more and more people in the US get infected with the MRSA or staph infection. As long as you don't touch/treat/poke around in open wounds you cannot get it. To be safe cover any wounds you might have yourself with a bandaid. So, there is no need for you to know who actually has the MRSA. Thousands of former hospital patients in the US have the superbug.

The MRSA bacterium is quite common in the population as a whole. It often lives in people's noses. It is only dangerous when the patient is already compromised by ill health, age etc.

This is a very serious staff infection. The school should be disinfecting the building and you need to be very careful if you have any open cuts or sores. Make sure you keep them clean, use anitbiotic ointment and cover with band aids. Wash your hands and limit bodily contact as much as possible.

It would be a huge violation of the student's rights to disclose who had it.

However, to protect yourself - make sure you wash your hands often and don't share personal care items (razors, etc) with people at school. Also, make sure all gym equipment is wiped down with the correct type of cleaner to kill the bacteria - most of the "community" cases are caused by people using gym equipment and passing the bacteria along that way.
