Moisture is your main concern right after the security of your guns. If you are sure that your guns will be secure in the safe in your garage you need to make sure that they are protected from moisture. There is an electric device called a Golden Rod that will help keep the moisture out of your gun safe. If that isn't sufficient, you will need to add a dessicant. They make dessicant containers that will absorb moisture from the air inside the gun safe. When it is full of moisture, all you have to do is to regenerate it in your oven. Both are available from places such as Cabela's and Bass Pro. Be sure that your gun safe is well bolted to the floor and to the wall to make sure that someone doesn't come along and load it into the back of their truck or trailer while you are gone.

I keep mine in my garage. I have one of those dehumidifying heat lights that sets in the bottom of the safe. This seems to keep it dry enough. I've had them up there for almost a year. I always check all of the guns every month or so to make sure I don't see any rust, and I give everything a good coat of oil every 3-6 months even if they haven't been shot. The temperature shouldn't matter. If you are really concerned you could put a humidistat in the safe and monitor the humidity in there. 60% or less should be fine. Bolting it down would be a good idea since it would probably be pretty easy for a thief to wheel a safe on a dolly out a garage door.

Sorry You're Having Such A Hard Time With This Question... People Can Be Rude... To Make A Small Shelter For Them You Can Use An Old Box, Preferably A Bigger One Like A Stove Box Or Fridge Box... Put A Few Small Holes To Allow For Air To Move In & Out, But Not Too Big That They Can Get Out Or Other Creatures Can Get In... Then Put A Tarp Over It... Make A Door Small Enough For The Mother To Get In, But Put It A Few Inches Above Thr Ground So The Kittens Can't Get Out... Good Luck Darling!!

My safe has been in the garage for years and NO PROBLEMS...But do yourself a favor and get a Dry Rod.. I use the rechargables and I have to do it every 6 weeks or so..And when you say gun safe..make sure it's a true gun safe and not a Stack-on gun cabinet..Because I do not believe that thing should go in the garage...I have one of those inside for my ammo..

Get a heavy duty safe with it's own insulation, and mke sure the garage does not get an exxessive amount of moisture. Also, make sure it is bolted down, the garage is a common entry point for theives.

It would depend on how extreme the temperature changes would be and how well insulated your gun cabinet is. But on average you should be fine, just clean your guns well and periodically check them for surface rust.
