Thanks, Emperor, I needed that!
Oh. To answer the question: I will admit that this is a quick cut and paste paragraph from catholic.com, but it pretty much sums things up. Cheers!
"Because he is the only God-man and the Mediator of the New Covenant, Jesus is the only mediator between man and God (1 Tim. 2:5), but this in no way means we cannot or should not ask our fellow Christians to pray with us and for us (1 Tim. 2:1–4). In particular, we should ask the intercession of those Christians in heaven, who have already had their sanctification completed, for "[t]he prayer of a righteous man has great power in its effects" (Jas. 5:16)."

They pray to Mary because they have been indoctrinated to believe that she is an intercessor for their prayers even though there is nowhere in scripture that tells a Christian to give her this position. Mary was a faithful servant of God who was given the honor to bear his son the Christ and it is highly likely she later became a follower of him and converted to Christianity herself. The Catholic Church has been standing for 1700 years and because of that many adherents go along with this pagan teaching, which was adopted in 'the church' at the time of it's inception three hundred years after Christ's life on earth. Therefore they are convinced that it must be the true church of Christ. They recognize the hierarchy of the C.C as representing Christ and therefore are convinced it is teaching the 'correct doctrine' which has been passed down for centuries and so believe "it can't be wrong."
I think there are some very good Catholics today who still go along with their beliefs but many have seen the error of these teachings and have left. The day will come when those who trust in this false Christianity will be forced to accept that it is not based on God's word and will have the opportunity to come to know where the path to Christ will truly lead them.

None of it particularly is worship and those delivers at the instant are not area of Catholic doctrine yet a sequence from deepest revelations which at the instant are not area of Catholic dogma and can properly be constantly rejected (or universal yet provided that examined and authorized via the Church) Mary is a prayer considerable different and the mum of all Christian believers who're accompanied into the family individuals of Christ

If you pay closer attention, you'll notice they ask Mary to pray for them, just as you might (or might not) ask someone to pray for you.
Asking someone to pray for you is an intercession, and Catholics choose to revere Mary and the other saints, as they were role models and wonderful examples of how people live their life when they are truly devoted to serving God. Part of this acknowledgment is remembering them in our prayers, and asking them to pray with and for us.
Mary is revered as the first of the Christian saints, as she voluntarily submitted to God's will and carried the divinely created man we know as Jesus. That is why Catholics adore Mary so much.
God bless!

the Old Testament King of Israel and his queen Mother prefigure the everlasting Priest-King Jesus Christ and his Mother, The Blessed Virgin Mary as the Queen of Heaven. God bless

In case Father K is busy here is an answer meanwhile for you ;
Not only do those in heaven pray with us, they also pray for us. In the book of Revelation, John sees that "the twenty-four elders [the leaders of the people of God in heaven] fell down before the Lamb, each holding a harp, and with golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of the saints" (Rev. 5:8). Thus the saints in heaven offer to God the prayers of the saints on earth
Because he is the only God-man and the Mediator of the New Covenant, Jesus is the only mediator between man and God (1 Tim. 2:5), but this in no way means we cannot or should not ask our fellow Christians to pray with us and for us (1 Tim. 2:1-4). In particular, we should ask the intercession of those Christians in heaven, who have already had their sanctification completed, for "[t]he prayer of a righteous man has great power in its effects" (Jas. 5:16).
Mary the Mother of Christ is also our Mother and cares for us and presents our petitions and needs before Her Son as She did at the wedding feast at Cana, only now She does so as the Queen of Heaven and Helper of Christians, you do not need to pray to Mary but down through the centuries millions of Christians have testified to Her powerful intercession before the throne of God and as God loves Her with an incredible love then it appears that He delights in this, of course this is not in scripture but then many things are not that have been proved to be from God.
John 19:26 - Jesus makes Mary the Mother of us all as He dies on the Cross by saying "behold your mother." Jesus did not say "John, behold your mother" because he gave Mary to all of us, his beloved disciples. All the words that Jesus spoke on Cross had a divine purpose. Jesus was not just telling John to take care of his mother.
Rev. 12:17 - this verse proves the meaning of John 19:26. The "woman's" (Mary's) offspring are those who follow Jesus. She is our Mother and we are her offspring in Jesus Christ. The master plan of God's covenant love for us is family. But we cannot be a complete family with the Fatherhood of God and the Brotherhood of Christ without the Motherhood of Mary.
John 2:3 - this is a very signifcant verse in Scripture. As our mother, Mary tells all of us to do whatever Jesus tells us. Further, Mary's intercession at the marriage feast in Cana triggers Jesus' ministry and a foreshadowing of the Eucharistic celebration of the Lamb. This celebration unites all believers into one famiy through the marriage of divinity and humanity.
John 2:7 - Jesus allows His mother to intercede for the people on His behalf, and responds to His mother's request by ordering the servants to fill the jars with water.
Psalm 45:9 - the psalmist teaches that the Queen stands at the right hand of God. The role of the Queen is important in God's kingdom. Mary the Queen of heaven is at the right hand of the Son of God.
1 Kings 2:17, 20 - in the Old Testament Davidic kingdom, the King does not refuse his mother. Jesus is the new Davidic King, and He does not refuse the requests of his mother Mary, the Queen.
1 Kings 2:18 - in the Old Testament Davidic kingdom, the Queen intercedes on behalf of the King's followers. She is the Queen Mother (or "Gebirah"). Mary is our eternal Gebirah.
1 Kings 2:19 - in the Old Testament Davidic kingdom the King bows down to his mother and she sits at his right hand. We, as children of the New Covenant, should imitate our King and pay the same homage to Mary our Mother. By honoring Mary, we honor our King, Jesus Christ.
1 Kings 15:13 - the Queen Mother is a powerful position in Israel's royal monarchy. Here the Queen is removed from office. But now, the Davidic kingdom is perfected by Jesus, and our Mother Mary is forever at His right hand.
2 Chron. 22:10 - here Queen Mother Athalia destroys the royal family of Judah after she sees her son, King Ahaziah, dead. The Queen mother plays a significant role in the kingdom.
Neh. 2:6 - the Queen Mother sits beside the King. She is the primary intercessor before the King.
The recourse we have to Mary in prayer follows upon the office she continuously fills by the side of the throne of God as Mediatrix of Divine grace; being by worthiness and by merit most acceptable to Him, and, therefore, surpassing in power all the angels and saints in Heaven
