the stories in the bible were true because socities all over the world have similar stories. So going on that logic...Why don't you admit to the existince of vampires, werewolves and such?

Because if they admitted that then they would have to let the world (ie: their religious leaders) know that they are free thinkers. And most religions frown upon this.

No one admits to the existence of vampires, werewolves and such, yet no one denies their existence either.

It is a very difficult subject for most is because most people don't see everyday 'proof' of such phenomenon, and when people do see proof, usually the other person who hasn't seen it is skeptical because of the rare occurrence of such things.

It happens in all fields of thought. In science, for example, a lot of scientists are closed down to possibilities that they cannot explain, nor find any reasonable explanation for, even though they could have seen it themselves.

If you were to meet a vampire or a werewolf, would you outright accept that they are that, or would you 'test' it out to see if that's so? ("Are these fake fangs or not? How do I know that you are a vampire? Prove it to me that you're a vampire... How do I know that you're a werewolf? Any guy or gal can claim to be a werewolf... but prove it!")

Most people would be skeptical. The people who would be open to such possibilities might be overly gullible and thus might mistake, for instance, a guy who has naturally occurring fangs for a vampire.

You were "told," a lot. A lot of "Christians" haven't even read the Bible and draw from handed-down information from people who haven't read the Bible themselves (there are exceptions though!)

If you're interested what the Bible says or believes about such occurrences, then read the Bible yourself and get a first-hand information on this subject. If I were to tell you (even though I read the Bible), it would mean as much to you as someone telling you who didn't read the Bible. What's the difference? You wouldn't see none because you don't have the first-hand evidence (the Bible itself) from which supposedly a lot of people draw arguments and logical constructions and fallacies.

Feel free to "dive in" and explore.

Your question isn't specific enough as to what stories in the bible you are referring to -- but you may be referring to the Genesis Flood story. Most of the stories in the Bible are specific, unique events -- Moses, King David and so on from the history of ancient Israel. However, the Flood as recorded in Genesis is one story that is found, in some distorted form, in the legends of most, if not all, ancient societies, even in the Americas.

As for vampires and related, see the following link regarding the origins -- the most common vampire legends are said to have originated in the far East, from where they were later transported to other parts of Europe. Yet there are other variations of similar stories around the world, such as involve bats or other animals -- so there may well be some truth to those stories, but such do not contradict anything in the Bible. And people by nature tend to be rather superstitious and fearful of unknown and unexplained things; even Jesus' disciples, when they saw Him walking towards them on the water, were terrified and thought they saw a ghost.

From a Christian perspective, I would say that such stories indicate the possibility of demonic powers in those ancient worlds -- and this is very consistent with what the Bible tells us of spiritual beings; I don't know of any Christians who explicitly deny the existence of such beings, at least from the remote past or even remote, un-Christianized parts of the world. The stories from Christian missionaries in places such as India, Africa and Papua New Guinea, where occultism and paganism have been entrenched, clearly attest to the fact of such demonic powers -- and the amazing miracles and displays of the power of God in such places when Christianity is first introduced.

As far as I know vampires, werewolves and such were never deemed as true. However the stories in the bible and other similar books were deemed as history. ; )

I don't believe that many of the stories in the bible are true. I believe that they are rather like parables. They show us what traits are good and bad, and provide a moral code. To believe that the stories are true because they are widespread is silly. Every country has a version of the Cinderella story, but that doesn't mean that it happened.

Because that would force them to admit that THEIR belief is wrong, and that would be sacrilege.
