I asked for no Bible quotes because I do not follow the bible, and therefore they wouldnt help me.
I wanted an answer from the individual's own persepctive, not the bibles
So why cant people answer without the Bible?
Should I stop asking questions because people cant answer without using the Bible
Are people THAT Closeminded?

Ignore it. Using the bible is a cop out so they don't have to think for themselves. They don't want to be forced to think about their answers.

I'm with the person who said this is Religion and Spirituality and not bible and christian.

Using their logic only questions about christianity can be asked, what about the Koran, that is a religious text and the Torah, plus the equivalent books in Hinduism, Voodoo (Yes it is a recognised religion in parts of the world outside the US borders), and the many other religions around the world. How about for every Bible verse quoted that person has to find a similar example from another religious text, should make some of the bible thumpers explode with rage having to read someone Else's beliefs.

Your point is well taken. The brothers and sisters that quote the Bible in most cases are very devote and the Bible represents all that is Christian rather than an instruction book. Perhaps it is close minded. But I can assure you that a good many Christians that are versed well enough to make quotes are more than happy to opine. (Of course our opinions may not reflect the proper interpretation of Biblical passages)

Well since I rarely use the bible to answer a question I guess it doesn't apply. But it kinda bugs me when people do use it and the verse is not even relevant. There are some who still cannot think for themselves. But some would say the same about me because I believe in God.

Yes, they are. Some people here seem to have only the bible in their brain. As such there is no room for any other thought. Thankfully, not all are like this. Give a thumbs down and move on.

This is Religion and Spirituality not the Bible speaks, so you do have the right to ask any question on RELIGION & SPIRITUALITY. Just cause some christans have desided that this should be theres dose not mean that it is. So ask away some of us are listening and willing to answer with out preaching to you.

They quote the bible because their minds are full of doubt, therefore they are encouraged not to think on their own. They are told not to rely on their own understanding, because they believe it can not be trusted.

One important possibility is that many of these individuals have no perspective of their own, that their belief is based on legalistic interpretation and not as many claim 'a living relationship with god'.
