On october 17th, 18th, and 19th i drank very heavily. Just a party weekend i guess, and since then i can't focus @ all. Saturday the 20th i was at a college football game and i couldnt care any less where i was, i just wanted to fall over and sleep. Its been 4 days since then and i still can't focus all the way, i can't focus on school work, i feel dizzy sometimes, i forget short term things easily and i stumble around the house looking for random things. My friends are all very concerned and so am i? i doubt i suffered permanent brain damage... but im just very scared that i may have damaged something else. I have been drinking tons of fluids, and eating a ton. Please help me out, i am not sure if i have made any improvement over the past 4 days?

also, the 3 days i drank keep in mind it was mostly hard alcohol and i am 5'11" and weigh 135 pounds.

thank you all

My sister is insisting that i go to the doctor but i am not sure what to do... on one hand i would see what is exactly wrong with me, but on the other my parents would kill me if they found out. Should i wait a few more days? i just need to get my homework done but i cant focus and its really really annoying me

Binge drinking is actually very destructive to the brain and central nervous system. Your body is recovering from the effects of the damage and learning how to compensate for them. In all likelyhood you will feel better in several days, but if you have drank this way repeatedly there can be more long term damage. Some people are more susceptible then others. Another possibility is that you may have done something to injure yourself while drinking - falling over, hitting your head, and such, which could be a sign of another type of injury. If the effects get worse, go the the Emergency Room as soon as possible.

First off, you are doing the right thing. I commend you for realizing you have a problem and working towards helping yourself. Especially since a baby is on their way. The first 5 years of a child's life are very important and influential; you want to create a happy, healthy home and enviroment for this child. As for your symptoms, it sounds like withdrawal. The anger might be on a deeper level (perhaps the reason you started drinking in the first place; depression?) and I would recommend seeing a doctor. I also suggest counseling/therapy to help you face your problems and learn healthy, effective ways to cope with things. You are not alone. Join an AA group, build a strong support system. That'll make a world of difference to not feel so alone in this... Good luck to you and your new family!

You may have an alcohol allergy. And you drank for several days in the row, alcohol is a depressant, and most people feel the after-effects for 2-3 days afterwards.

My best advice is to go see the doctor if you are not improving. And it might do you a world of good not to drink like that again. A person who develops an allergy to alcohol can drop dead from it.

I agree that you prob. don't have permanent damage, but I would still suggest you go to the doctor. If you are still feeling the effects 4 days later, that's really not good, your friends are justified in their concern. Go see the doc!!

The last time I had a hangover that long I had mixed in Benadryl. I would see a doctor if things dont improve and lay off that booze.
