It's 7 years old so it depends. You can go on the web and find the 2000 model year estimates. but with a 2000 you gotta factor how well it was maintained. fuel filters, air filters, injectors cleaned other factors. it's hard to say for sure.

My 2000 Ford Ranger with a 4.0L and the off road package gets 17mpg in mixed city and highway driving. I have gotten as high as 20mpg on long trips, and as low as 12 mpg while screwing around off road.
Personally, i would opt for a 2001 or newer model with the SOHC V6. My brother has a 2003 FX4 Level 2 with the SOHC 4.0L and when I borrowed it for a week I got 20mpg, which is 3 mpg better than my truck. Keep in mind that these trucks are virtually identical except his has a stronger drive train and the new engine.

The best mpg I've gotten was 21 in a 2001 3.0L V-6 2WD Supercab. I think the 4.0L V-6 prob gets 18-19 and the 4 cyl prob gets 25, provided they are all 2WD. 4WDs don't get as much.
