Your right............ We should all just walk through life stoned out of our minds.
Yes, lets sit home, in our parents basements, eating Twinkies all day. Cartoon Network here I come!
In reality... here is what you must always remember:
The people request the laws.
The Legislators create the laws and put them in place.
The police enforce the laws as requested by the people.
So, if you want to make it legal.... Do not blame the cops. The people WANT it illegal, you need to contact your Representatives and work to make it legal.
There are many countries where child prostitutes are legal or accepted. That doesn't make it right. Even though the ACLU would love to see it happen in this country. One more disgusting organization that always fights to legalize drugs, among other things.

Drugs are illegal......even pot.
True story: I arrested a guy for Armed Robbery the other night. He put a gun to a guys head and told him to empty his pockets. The victim handed over his wallet and a wad of bills he had in his pocket. He however, hung onto a phone. As soon as the bad guy ran off the victim called the police. I was right around the corner and came around the corner to find the robber still running down the street. I chased the bad guy down and ordered him to the ground at gun point. I then searched the villain and found the weapon, the victim's wallet and wad of cash, and a bag of dope (pot). I charged him with Armed Robbery, Assault by Pointing a Gun, Resisting Arrest, and Possession of Marijuana. After I Mirandized him I asked him (among other things) what he was planning on doing with the money he stole. He told me he needed something to eat......I guess he had the munchies. Now I'm not suggesting the pot made him rob the victim (although it certain didn't help his judgment) but I will tell you that a lot of people I arrest have a history of substance abuse.

Wow. First, going off of your actual question, and not the title, you were expecting people to criticize you, so don't go reporting me when my personal opinion is that you apparently dropped out of school because you took the term "high" school literally based on your grammar skills. Light another one and prove Darwin was right.
Going off your exact wording, I assume you think that pot heads are different than the rest of "drug people." Last I checked, marijuana was a drug, and an illegal one, which is why you had to hide it in your shoebox (underneath the Maxims and KY). Maybe that's why you had to go to the skatepark in the middle of the night...when no one is there to see you. Dorrito's anyone?
Now to answer your question: Why DO the cops stop A LOT of drug abusers? Because they are a danger to the public. Not like, "Oh my God, potheads are like gods and should not be angered!" danger, but more like, "Holy crap, he's going to outline me to the wall with his Geo Metro at sixty miles an hour because he's too stoned to realize that the road turned!" There's really not much different physically and psychologically between being high on pot and being drunk. Reactions are slowed, speech (and apparently writing) is impeded, and motor function is reduced or inhibited. So if its not okay for a drunk to be behind a car or out in public, why is a pothead any different.
Do everyone a favor next time your "woundering" what people will say to a stupid question: Keep it to yourself! The next time you have an urge to humiliate yourself to millions of people on the internet, take another hit off your doobie and see how fast you need to run to go through a brick wall. Post as a response when you find out.
Check into rehab.

Funny thing about potheads. I bust most potheads either on care stops, or engaging in illegal activity and I find dope on them.
If someone would just smoke their dope at home (not driving). Chances are extremely slim they would be arrested.
I take driving under the influence very seriously and I nail a lot of people for OUIs, driving under the influence of Marijuana. I feel the same way about that as I feel about drunks. If I pull you over and I smell weed, I will probably give you a field soberity test.
As for marijuana making people mellow. I have fought quite a few people who were stoned in my career as a Law Enforcement officer, so I don't really buy into that.

Well hell, lets just leave cocaine junkies, meth heads, heroin users and pill poppers alone. I want to walk down the streets of my town being mugged, knocked down and trip over druggies of all kinds. What a wonderful world it would be to take your family to the city park and see all the people pissing on the lawn and worse. Would you like to see the police force eliminated too? Then all the junkies could could rob and kill whenever they needed their addiction satisfied.

Because all controlled substances are illegal, hence the stops. Doesn't matter if it is just "a little pot", it's illegal. If you're going over the speed limit by 1 mph/kph, are you speeding? Yes.

I'm not an avid smoker and find it can be both destructive and relieving depending on the situation. Having the ban on pot is about as silly as prohibition used to be. If the government taxed it we could actually make money instead of losing money to uselessly fight it.

Because it's all about the money...how much they can get people to pay in fines, etc. The only drug that I think shouldn't be illegal is marijuana. I think potheads should be left alone...responsible people who smoke do not harm anyone else. There are tons of them, no matter what the anit-marijuana society says, those who work everyday and hold professional jobs.
I hate when people answer, "because it's illegal." That is not a good answer. It is illegal because why? No one, including the government, has a good enough reason.
