No, most of them dont do manual therapy, even if they do, they can only do thrust or crack. Chinese spine therapist is better.

Chiropracters can really help with back pain. Usually they will give a free consultation, and if they think they can't help his type of pain they will say so. Maybe the reason you "kinda think they are fishy" is that the AMA waged a big lobbying campaign for many decades to discredit a profession that they saw as rivals. The pendulum is starting to swing back now that many people are realizing that there is a very valid place for chiropractic skills within the field of medicine. Try it out, and if you find you are not satisfied with their contribution, you can always go to one of the higher-charging doctors.

I honestly think that I'd be in a wheelchair now if not for a chiropractic doctor. My back was in terrible pain and almost to the point where I couldn't walking, but after being treated by a chiropractor I made a full recovery.I might add it took some time and required several treatments. From my own expierence,go for it!!

You could always try and if he doesn't like it, then he doesn't have to go back, no harm, no foul. I personally love my chiropractor, he reduced the chronic pain in my feet simply by realigning my back. It was the only change I made in my life and it really helped.

Well the chiropractor would love it. There are, however, a hundred reasons for low back pain - most of which can't be treated or diagnosed by a chiropractor. (go ahead, Google it)
See a good general practitioner first.

Absolutely not! Not initially anyway.

Chiropractors can help in specific situations, but he should not rely on them entirely. For a proper diagnosis he go to an orthopaedic surgeon first.
