Plasma Donation?
I'm donating plasma tomorrow at 1145am and am a little worried. My family has told me not to do it. My aunt and uncle think that it will lower my immunity. Is there any real hazard to my health? Other ppl I've talked to tell me they've done it and have had no problem. Anyone know anything about this kind of stuff?

also, is it painful?

There is nothing to be worried about. Before you can be a donor, you are being checked to ensure that your health is suitable to be a donor and your health is not compromised by donating plasma. The procedure in plasma donation is very safe and there is usually a very minimal or no any side effects at all.

It will not have an impact in your immunity because if you are pretty healthy, your body will be able to replace tha plasma very quickly. In fact, suitable donors can donate plasma at least twice a week with 48 hours interval between the donation.

The whole process is not that painful. You will feel slight pain of course with the prick of the needle placed in your vein. Once the needle is placed, the collection tubings will be anchored to the spinning machine. Your blood will be collected, goes to the machine to separate the plasma from other blood components. The plasma are collected and the other blood components are filtered into a reservoir and will be returned to your body once it is full via the same route. Such process is called PLASMAPHERESIS. It is not painful and while doing the process you can relax, listen to music, read books, etc. The whole process will require you to stay at the center for about 90 minutes or two hours.

If you don't mind a needle in your arm, it is not painful.

By the way, thanks for donating. You are a good person.

The people taking your blood plasma will tell you what to do after this. Your body will need a day or so to build your blood supply back.

sometimes like this one, the place the recipient is quite placed in the comparable scientific institution I see no clarification why it cant be executed? My brother gained a bone marrow transplant, that became into unsuccessful, returned in 1995 and regardless, i in my opinion wish shall we've wide-spread who the donor became into... i think of the relationship, whether that's an organ or bone marrow or despite, quite impacts and sticks with the households on the two aspects and it does supply some closure in a feeling. i don't agree nonetheless, that race or faith could desire to play any area in figuring out on or denying. in this occasion, if it provides the mothers and fathers of Kaylee some peace, then why don't you enable them to make the alternative a minimum of they're going to discover some convenience in that and supply them some healthful *closure*. they don't look to be chosing for the different reason than the little lady is optimal there in the comparable scientific institution and that they could experience the soreness soreness of Lillians mothers and fathers. The time line is so narrow to furnish an organ besides, could besides permit Lillian have a danger, she is optimal there waiting. If it have been one among my own babies in Kaylee's place, i could wish the international does not choose me for my judgements on organ donation, and doubtless tutor some compassion for his or her challenge and the alternative they are compelled to make.

There is no danger from lowered immunity whatsoever unless your immune system is already compromised. It will take about 3 days for your body to replenish the blood.
