When you have strep throat and are currently sick you need to be on antibiotics and finish the treatment. Take every single pill on schedule until they are done.
Untreated streptococcus infection can lead to Rheumatic fever and I believe it can also cause an acute cardiomyopathy- which means the tissue surrounding your heart gets sick.
I think it is fairly rare but think Jim Henson and John Ritter.
Don't mean to alarm but if you are sick with active strep throat it should be treated.

You can die from any infection if let go long enough. However, strep is a very painful thing so far before it got severe enough to kill you, the pain would be severe enough to put you in the hospital. Where you are a carrier, it doesn't mean the infection is active all the time, it just means you have a higher chance of passing it on to others and a higher chance of getting it. I am a carrier of Mono and hardly ever get sick with it however, a few people who have been in contact with me have gotten it without me even displaying the symptoms. Just warn those who come incontact with your saliva that if they get a sore throat they may have strep.

Strep throat is a bacterial infection. Go get antibiotics and get rid of it. This illness used to kill people all the time before antibiotics came along. Some people can fight it off, but some can't. Don't be selfish, get medicine and stop being a carrier. How would you feel if your friend's kid came up with a sore throat and went through hell because you gave them the infection? If you live in a cabin alone in Montana and aren't worried about infecting anyone, know that yes, it is possible it could kill you if you don't deal with it.

Did you get tested to see if you were really a carrier? That test is by going to the dr's when your feeling well and get tested and you are postive..then you know for sure you are a carrier.
Strep carriers tend not to spread disease. Furthermore, they are not at risk of developing rheumatic fever. Treatment with antibiotics often does not eliminate strep in carriers. Carriers are only treated with antibiotics in the rare instance that a family member has repeated strep infections and it is suspected that the infection seems to be cycling through the family.
So being a carrier no you can't die you can be treated with antibotics.. But if your not a carrier yes you can die if you go untreated.

Strep throat is an infection caused by streptococcus bacteria.
Strep throat usually requires treatment with antibiotics. With the proper medical care, along with plenty of rest and fluids you should be back normal in a few days.

The bacteria that cause strep throat tend to hang out in the nose and throat, so normal activities like sneezing, coughing, or shaking hands can easily spread the strep infection from one person to another. So it is important to wash your hands.

Lack of treatment or not finishing the course of antibiotics could put you at risk for other health problems, such as rheumatic fever (which can cause permanent damage to the heart), scarlet fever, blood infections, or kidney disease.

Only if your throat starts to swell. A girl that I went to school with died when she had Strep because of that. If you are a carrier but do not have Strep, you will be fine.

Strep throat doesn't kill people, but untreated strep throat can progress beyond the throat and cause scarlet fever. Scarlet fever sometimes (very rarely) spreads to the blood stream and causes highly lethal streptococcal toxic shock syndrome. Scarlet fever is very rare in the US.

If people are taking antibiotics, getting proper rest and fluids, strep throat is not as big a risk as dying from the flu.

See a dcotor. You need antibiotics. I had strep throat 2 years ago my throat hurt so bad but I could still walk. You will have to stay home from school or work though because it is contagious and that is how i got it. Again, see a doctor he'll write you a prescription otherwise it wont go away.

If you do not get treatment upon onset, you can develop swelling of the throat, bleeding and more but, only in severe cases. Like any bacteria it will run it's course, to assist you should get an antibiotic and speed up the healing process.

Well, there is a possibility of it leading to scarlet fever. I had it when I was four. You should definitely take antibiotics or whatever your doctor has prescribed.
Not many die from it these days. Just stay away from others so you don't pass it along.
Consult your physician!! Don't jump to conclusions, you'll just worry and scare yourself. Besides, most of us on here are not doctors.
