Ok - We have the NFL and the MLB right? Do they have major sponsors OVER their sport? NO! They have sponsors IN the sports but nobody that is claiming ownership of the NFL or MLB. Why can't it just be NASCAR Championship Cup Series sponsored by Sprint? We could also go to the now Busch series and call it the NASCAR Amateur Cup Series sponsored by whoever because I don't think Busch is doing it again. We could also take it one futher and call it NASCAR Truck Series Sponsored by Craftsman or whoever decides to spend more money to beat Craftsman. That way whenever sponsors changed it wouldn't screw up the name for fans. All this is doing is showing how greedy the sponsors are getting - oops have gotten. What is your opinion?

I totally agree with you! With the advertising cost rising to sponsor the different series in Nascar I think we are only going to see more sponsor changes.
The same goes for the television rights. It could come to more than two or three networks covering the Cup series alone. One network is not going to pay for the entire year!
These are big bucks we are talking about!
Good Idea!

I agree with you on some points. I love the idea of it being called the NASCAR Championship Series presented by Sprint. When INDY sold out and decided to allow Allstate to sponsor the race i was extremely upset. To me it will always be the Brickyard 400 and not whatever they decide to call it now. If the Indy 500 or Daytona 500 ever get a corporate sponsor i think im done with auto racing. But i agree sponsors arnt a bad thing but when you associate them with the championship then the sponsorship changes it seems like the title is somehow tainted. This is the 3rd name change for NASCARs elite division within 5 years and i dont believe its good for the sport.

how quickly we forget about Winston... we'll do the same with Nextel and with Busch. Jeff Gordon drives the DuPont car, the Nicorette car and the Pepsi car... Matt Kenseth drives the DeWalt and the Carhart car... we adapt.

Don't worry they will sell out in time too. NCAA has sold out and has corporate sponsors for all the bowl games now. Most pro stadiums have corporate sponsorship too.

That's not a bad idea at all! Everytime they change the name/logo so much stuff goes to waste because new stuff has to be printed up (ie official's uniforms) and it's ridiculous.
