Concerning the debate going on about intelligent design and evolution: is it possible that the final answer about which of these two seemingly opposite ideas is correct could simply be yes?
With one position firmly held by the believers and the other just as fearlessly defended by the non-believers, if you happen to be in a position somewhere near the middle, it does not look all that complex. From this position, you wonder why either-or has to be the answer.
If you believe that some higher being created the universe by intelligent design, what more elegant and intelligent design could there have been than a self-regulating system that continually checks its own errors and makes its own corrections in mid-stream as an integral part of the process.
This all seems quite logical to me although it probably won’t satisfy the believers because they are afraid to see any truth other than the one they have been told to believe in. Inversely it certainly won’t satisfy the non-believers because it leaves them stuck with a god that they are so obviously terrified of.
To sum up this view from the center, it might be most easily be explained by saying perhaps the designer was intelligent. Problem is, the designer was likely so intelligent that those seeking to prove that it is intelligently designed may be incapable of ever understand it well enough to see it for the elegant self regulating design that it has always been.
The nonbelievers will be similarly handicapped due to the internal terror the have about the idea that there may be a God. Neither side being able to leave their entrenched position for fear they may have to admit they were wrong. While the rest of us stand by trying to figure out what all the fuss is about. Personally I don’t think anyone is wrong, I just feel both sides are about half right.
Love and blessings

Yes. I don't understand why so many people are unable to believe in the possibility of the coexisting of the two philosophys of evolution and creationism, or should I say "intelligent design". You can not argue that there is a definite system or pattern to the world, and in fact the universe around us; however most of that pattern is beyond the scope of our understanding as we are now. Also you cant deny that at some point (if you go by the bang theory) SOMETHING must have happened to cause all of THIS to happen.
I am a fan of the philosophy that god was a giant single cell organism. and the big bang was that organsim dividing for the first time. Over the course of millenia the cells divided and divded into different stuctures etc until they were attoms, which everything in the universe is composed of. That is why we are all part of god. God is in all of us and the universe because we and the univers ARE god. Or soemthing...

I do not believe in gods.
However, in a universe with a trillion galaxies, a god would have to be far more complex than any belief system an ancient society has produced. That includes the elegance of scientific processes like evolution.
I agree that religions should not deny scientific observations made in the nineteenth century and beyond. Human survival depends on science.

The only type of evolution that is science is micro-evolution (which should be called diversification so it would not be confused with the other theories), the others are just theories.
Evolution does not align with the Bible, and the Bible tells us that God made the would in 6 days (which consisted of a night and a day) and that God "spoke" every thing into existence. Until science can speak any thing into existence, creation will remain beyond natural, it is super-natural.

If you recall from the last time you read Genesis, God formed man from the dirt on the ground, and breathed on man, and man came to life. That is how the first man was created, and I'm sure you remember how the first woman was created from reading Genesis. And since God instructed the first man and woman to be fruitful and multiply, God created science as well. Yes, God is a scientific genius. And then some....

Yes. I've ever seen a conflict with creation and evolution. The creation story is Man's way of explaining what he doesn't understand. Evolution is the science behind what we can see in the evidence we find.
Here is another thought. We are supposedly created in the image of God. How much do we like to invent and create. Why is it so unbelievable that God wouldn't enjoy the creation process and experimenting as much as we do? It's fun to watch the process even if you know the outcome.
Good journeys,
Asha

I personally do not know how God created humans. I see everything in life as having two explanations: a spiritual explanation (God created Adam and Eve) and a scientific explanation (Humans evolved from monkeys.) I think that God could have used evolution to create humans- afterall, there probably is some stuff in the bible that's not true, but it is true to people who stromngly believe in the concepts of Christianity. I, however, do not question how humans were created. I believe in God and I believe in science.

I believe God created humans and evolution., God didn't ignore science, it's merely a definitions of some of the methods he used.

The Bible says that God spoke the world into existence. He made the earth and the sun and stars giving their light - I assume this means they were mostly "mature" stars that didn't have to "evolve". Same with the animals....they were fully-formed and able to reproduce. Same with the trees - they were mature and covered in fruit. Same with the veggies and grains etc. They were mature and ready to "reproduce". When God made Adam and Eve, they were fully-formed adult humans. Male and female, all systems in place and ready to go. God formed them with his hand rather than speaking them into existence like He did with everything else. I think that shows that humans are more precious to God than the animals and the planet.
He made everything run by the scientific principles we can see around us because He is a God of order and not chaos. So I guess you could say that He created science. It was needed to keep this place running in an orderly fashion.
LOL I hope that made sense! It's hard to think with Shaun the Sheep playing on the tv and my toddler fussing to be held.

It works out this way: (1) Humanity evolved, and we have extensive evidence to prove it. (2) God is our creator, we believe, but all the evidence we have, though there is quite a lot, is subjectively interpreted, so we can't prove it. It does bother me that you seem to want to come up with an explanation for the Bible as sort of science text. The story says days, and there's no reason it shouldn't say days, because there's no reason to expect the story to include an estimate of the age of the universe according to scientific cosmology. Get all wrapped up in trying to make the details "scientific," and you just miss the point.
