I took German in high school, and found it pretty easy to learn.

Knowing how common it is to run into someone who speaks German, but not English... (I've only met one...)

Any good places to look for cheap reliable Spanish classes in Colorado?

Buy a pocket English-Spanish dictionary (like the ones for travelling) and you can start learning useful phrases. If you have cable tv, DVDs or just anntena tv where some channels play Spanish shows, put the close captioning on, or the subtitles feature, listen in Spanish while reading English to start, then read them in Spanish, too, while watching the show/movie. Go to Spanish leanign websites (sorry I can't give you any) but I'm sure that if anybody else give you one asnwering this question, you could google it. Good luck!

Your community college is the best bet. You don't want to end up spending money on something that you don't even get credit for. At least there you can learn the basics and if you choose to continue you can. Buena suerte! (that means good luck in Spanish..)
