First of all, dogs aren't meant to be kept outside all day. I've seen dogs that have been kept outside for 8 hours a day during the cold months, and have died because of it. I'm sure this isn't waht you want for your dog. Second, the dog shouldn't be kept in a crate for 8 hours a day, if she's in there all night. You need to either find someone who can come over and take her out during the day, while you aren't home, or you need to gate off a small room for her to play in while you are gone. You can put toys out in this room, food and water. And try those puppy training pads incase of accidents. Also, pit bulls are high energy dogs. I know, I've got a 10 month old pit right now. She is always going non stop. So probably the best thing to do is find a dog sitting service near you, and hire someone to come and take your dog out for a while during the day. She can't be in a cage so much.

Pit bulls can NOT stay outside when it's under 60 degrees out. They have barely any hair and they are cold even in decent temps. You should have her sleep with you at night, they love to snuggle you under the blanket. Pit bulls are dogs that require a lot of attention, love, and affection & I am afriad that if you leave her home all day alone caged up, she will end up being a mean dog due to neglect. At least let her sleep with you at night for crying out loud. And do not leave her outside no matter what! She will not survive.

Rather than crating her all day, could you possibly confine her to just one room instead? You don't say how old she is, but a lot of dogs really do outgrow the need to be crated all the time. If she's housetrained and if you (or someone?) could get home to take her out at least once, she might be happier out of the crate with a dog-bed and some toys and water, but still confined to a small area.
My dogs have the run of the house (except for bedrooms and bathrooms) and just seem to sleep all day if no one's home.
Good Luck!

Why is she in the cage at all?
Does she wreck things, or go to the bathroom on the floor?
I would suggest giving her her own room for when you are at work/school and see how she does. Then let her have free-reign of the house when she learns not to destroy your things. It's not good to keep dogs in a cage 24 hours a day, or be left outside in the cold.
If she has a dog-house, you could get a little heater(they sell them for dog houses).

I leave my Yorkie in his crate all day while I'm at work and he's fine. I accidently left the door open one morning and of course he got out and peed several times. Dogs sleep about 90% of the day anyway so I don't feel the least bit guilty leaving him there. My older dog's bed is right beside the crate so he does have company. I spend all of my time with him after I get home from work until bedtime so we do have lots of quality time together.

My dogs as pups were faced with this issue too. So I found a small room in my home, the lavatory, which isnt tiny but not too large. I bought a baby gate to block off the doorway without shutting the door. I put her bed, food and water, as well as a chew toy in their on days when I was out late. This worked, and she much happier when I got home, than if I left her in the crate all day.

I take it you leave her outside all day now. But now she would be crated all day and all night when she is sleeping. What would happen if you didn't crate her at night? How about leaving her in an enclosed room during the day and not a crate or having someone come and let her out during the day?

Dogs really should not spend a full 8 hours during the day in a crate without a potty break. If you can figure out how to come home for lunch to let her out, then she'd be fine.

I don't think you should really keep her in a cage for 8 hours. Would you like it? You could try and arrange someone to look after her during the day or to walk her. Or you could try and come home during your lunch break?
