I have seen questions about the awful fires in America tonight.
Christians asking if they are because of sin or the start of the end of the world or is it because god is punishing people in that part of America because of there greed.
This got me thinking are these people really Christian or people pretending to be Christian ?
After all should not real Christians be asking what can we do to help or at the very least praying for those affected ?

I fully agree with you. I appreciate the tone of your question. There are many lunatics out there that also identify themselves with a group--be that Christian, Atheist, Lion's Club, whatever--that the vast majority of the group would prefer they didn't use the title, and would keep their narrow minded hateful mouths shut. It is a sad thing that the many good people in every group are judged by the acts of their most vocal idiots.

God has nothing to do with such things. He said, even a sparrow does not drop that he doesn't know about it.
Many good christian people in California, being rich does not make you anti-christian. Just as being poor doesn't make you a criminal. I have lived there for many years and found them to be out going friendly and kind to their neighbors.
They are not taking advantage of each other but volunteering to help. What is wrong with you people to even think that.
They are some of the most generous people on the planet.
shame on you.

The mentality of some of the so called Christians on here is quite frightening, not just about this but about other natural disasters too.

In theory yes, Christianity should be about helping people - not judging people (or so they are so keen to point out) but it would appear that some rather twisted individuals feel this is retribution.

How they would personally feel if it were their house up in flames I don't know, they would probably blame human error or weather conditions.

Huge amounts of undergrowth and brush,,simply can't be left any more near populated areas,,it has to be cleaned up to eliminate the fuel supply in the time drought,,I know we could do this,,if prisons where able to put a huge task force on the job,,,I rather be chasing a couple hard cons who had escaped than dealing with a wildfire,,...

The stupid thing about it is that the wildfires are predictable, seasonal and do not happen elsewhere.

Earthquakes and wildfires.... people live in California WHY?

This is hubris on our part. Engineering has allowed us to provide water to arid lands and in exchange build huge cities that nature is going to fight. Unlike other countries, there is enough space to move to places with water, few earthquakes and no need for 24/7 Air conditioning.

I believe in helping via the red cross et al, but if you live in an area prone to hurricanes, have a hurricane plan, prone to wildfires, have a wildfire plan, probe to tornados, have a tornado plan....for crying out loud, this is NOT a surprise thing.

I think it has to do with fire touching plants and trees and other flammable things. Not a sign of Gods hate for California.
End of the world? wow.....

Global warming may be cause for concern here. Not the fake story of a gods wrath

Yes they should be asking what can we do...
And what they can do is call their local Red cross or Salvation army and become a registered volunteer. So that when a natural disaster happens in their area, they know that they can call on you to help...

Proverbs 26:2 comes to my mind, but I just finished praying again for the people losing their homes.

Gov. Schwarzenegger and California SB 777 are 2 of the worst things that ever happened to that state. California children are forced to listen to pro-sodomite, homosexual teaching in the schools.

The governor has cursed his state.
