Yeah, it bugs me. I guess people are just looking to start a conversation....or trying to sum you up!

I haven't really encountered this when I'm by myself; I've never had someone come up to me and say, "What do you do for a living" at random. However, when I'm with my boyfriend, they may not know my name, but they know who I am (dating their friend), and they will ask me what I do.

Ya it bothers me...it's like you don't want to make friends with someone if they arent in the same "class" as you. WOW flashback to kings and queens and knights not talking to lowly peasents doesnt it?

yea, but i guess they just do it unconciously, without realizing it, since they do it so much
