My sister in law took her dog out Sunday night . She said the dog looked slightly out of breath on their return home but this is nothing unusual. When she awoke the next morning she found the dog dead in its basket. It had blood coming from its nose and mouth.
She is deeply upset but can not afford the two hundred pound to have a pm done as the dog is only four.
It was slightly over weight but in my opinion as dog owner it was a picrure of health.
Any ideas what it could have died from....

Dog - all pets for that matter - die eventually.

It's sad, but true.

Having a post mortum examination is not a good idea. She needs to live with the idea that the dog just had some abnormality that she could not have known about nor corrected if she did. Getting the news that the dog swallowed some glass or ate a metal can isn't something she'd want to live with.

Have her consider getting another dog, and pass along our sadness for her loss.

Our dog died within minutes from an embolism, walking around at 6:15, deceased at 6:45. There are dozens of uncommon things that could have happened.

Is she 100% sure this dog didn't get hit by a car? Is the a possibility it was hit without her knowing?

It sounds like he had a Cerebral Hemorrhage, caused by a blood clot in his brain. I'm so sorry!

Did the dog eat any glass. Or maybe something sharp that would have caused internal bleeding

Anurism! He probably got a blood clot in the brain, that's what causes you to bleed throught your nose and mouth.
