One day, some people asked Jesus what they could do to please God: “What shall we do, that we might work the works of God?” Jesus immediately points them to faith: “This is the work of God, that ye believe on Him whom He hath sent” (John 6:28-29). So, the question is about God’s requirements (plural), and Jesus’ answer is, “God’s requirement (singular) is that you BELIEVE Me.”

I'd like to start of by thanking the non-catholics above me for sharing their ignorance with us (when I started answering this question that was CJ and Rhio9). If you don't know the answer, don't answer the question. I know it's a novel concept, but you should give it a try.

As far as the one true church, the Catholic church is simply claiming what any other church claims. Obviously you can't have more than one right answer.

As for no salvation outside the church, this is one of the more misunterstood claims that the church makes, for obvious reasons. All it means that everyone who is saved is saved through the church, or the mystical body of Christ. It does not mean that you have to be a member of the church. If someone like CJ is saved, for example, he will be saved through the church. The same applies to a muslim, a buhdhist or any other religion.

Conversion is always needed. As Catholics we need conversion ourselves as well. This just means that we need to give our lives to Christ on a regular basis. It's not a one time event like the fundies like to think.

1. The Catholic church is not the true church exactly. Orthodox was the first Christian church. The Roman Catholic church left orthodoxy 1054ad. Orthodox mean "right glory"

2. The Bible does discuss how to make a church and talks about the intercessory pray of a person to a saint. Read your bible.

even as the Church claims, "there is not any salvation outdoors the Catholic Church", this quote comes from Doctrine that pertains noticeably to the Sacrament of Baptism. Baptism is Salvific, no longer in simple terms symbolic - to that end it truly is totally needed one receives the Sacrament of Baptism. One might want to be Baptized contained in the Church. i assume you also are attentive to the very truth the Catholic Church acknowledges as valid, Baptisms that ensue in non-Catholic Christian churches. A "valid Baptism" is even as one is Baptized "contained in the call of the daddy, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit" - a Trinitarian Baptism. How do 2 such Doctrines reconcile? the reply is recent in a 0.33 ingredient of Church Doctrine: The Church acknowledges that "all reality is God's reality". for that reason, any ideals held by a non-Catholic Christian denomination, that are in sync with Catholic ideals, are to be regarded as God's reality. everywhere those Truths are respected is taken into consideration area of the Catholic Church. So, the position is the Catholic Church? it really is the position even area of it really is ideals and practices are regarded and believed to be God's reality. to that end, someone Baptized "contained in the call of the daddy, the Son, and the Holy Spirit" is a member of the Church. those who're Baptized in Catholic churches are direct individuals of the Church. those who acquire valid Baptisms from different denominations also change into individuals of the Church, albeit circuitously, yet memebers though. i wish this facilitates.

The one true church existed the day Jesus said, "Let there be light..." Ever since then man has been trying to take credit for starting this church.

As Martin Luther said, referring to the Roman Catholic Church, "Salvation can exist outside of the church, but not outside of Christ."

What makes you think, the catholic church. Is the true church? The catholic church, only cares about its own people. There is no one true church.
They all preach the same. The catholics tell other people to pray to mary.
When she is not a God. Even tho she is the mother of jesus. She still has no right to have people, pray to her. Because, its going against jesus and God.
If you know your bible. God says there shall be no other gods before me. So by praying to Mary(Mother of Jesus) You are putting her before God. Another thing.
It will be the catholic church, or the pope. Who will turn over his power to the anti-christ.
And will cause everyone to bow down and worship him.
Think about it.
What is the most powerful religous throne or seat in the world?
And who is the most powerful religious person, in the world? And who do all the politicians look to for answers?
And how many heads of state, have spoke with him.

I suggest you look up Pergamon, which no longer has that name or no longer exists, but was in what is now called Syria; Also the Royal order of Babylon and why it was bequeathed to the Pope in something like 131, if I remember rightly, and all Popes since are still head of it, before you make exaggerated claims.

Jesus spoke mostly to the Jews first. I don't remember
anywhere in the Bible saying the Catholic Church was
the true church. BELIEF in God, Christ and the Holy Spirit
is where salvation comes, not from any specific church.
You are way off base, I'm sorry to say. Hang in there and
maybe you'll see the "light" from Christians' answers.

The doctrine that "Outside the Church there is no salvation" is one that is constantly misinterpreted by those who won't submit to the Magisterium of the Church. Faith does not depend upon our ability to reason to the truth but on our humility before the Truth presented to us by those to whom Christ entrusted that task.

"We must hold as of the faith, that out of the Apostolic Roman Church there is no salvation; that she is the only ark of safety, and whosoever is not in her perishes in the deluge; we must also, on the other hand, recognize with certainty that those who are invincible in ignorance of the true religion are not guilty for this in the eyes of the Lord. And who would presume to mark out the limits of this ignorance according to the character and diversity of peoples, countries, minds and the rest?"

It is known to us and to you that those who are in invincible ignorance of our most holy religion, but who observe carefully the natural law, and the precepts graven by God upon the hearts of all men, and who being disposed to obey God lead an honest and upright life, may, aided by the light of divine grace, attain to eternal life; for God who sees clearly, searches and knows the heart, the disposition, the thoughts and intentions of each, in His supreme mercy and goodness by no means permits that anyone suffer eternal punishment, who has not of his own free will fallen into sin.

CJ, you should win some sort of prize for having your butt in a chair all day waiting for the word "Catholic" to pop into the questions.

LOL

outside the Catholic Church is salvation... you just have to believe in God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit, and know Jesus died for you! I'm Catholic and even I know that...
