That's a tough question to answer, because I don't view it exactly that way. I do the Gods' will because I firmly believe they know far better than me - AND that they want the best for me. I'm not blindly following a tyrannical, omnipotent, frightening presence. I am following "suggestions" that I believe will lead me to the best possible life with the least amount of struggles. I will have hard times, but I won't have to struggle as much if I am secure in the knowledge that this is where I am intended to be today, and I will eventually find the answer. When I make choices that are against what the Gods probably want from me, or for me, that is when I end up struggling.
If the Gods want what is best for me at all times, then it is probably their view that my family should be first at all times. I don't choose between the Gods and my family, who to put at the top of my list. The Gods are always present...not really "better than" or "more important", but always there. And they would never, ever, ask me to put my family aside for them. It doesn't make sense.

The truth is religion does tell people that God must be put before anything else, and many religious people will openly profess that God has primacy before any other priority in their lives, but judging by the actions of most religion people, this is a bald face lie.
If even 30 percent of professing Christians put God/Jesus above their own aims and their family’s well being, the way Jesus mandated, then you would see hundreds of millions of them, all over the world, giving all their wealth to charity, and working to spread the Gospel to parts of the world were it is seldom heard, such as in Saudi Arabia, Afghanistan, or Yemen.
The truth is of the 2 billion Christians in this world (the actual number that is estimated to exist), maybe 1 million TRULY believe what they say they do. The other so-called “Christians” are deluding themselves, and deceiving others. A world were all those, or even half those, who profess their belief, actually REALLY believed in what they profess, would be a world that looks entirely different from our own.

Being faithful to God and being faithful to family go together. This is what I have found since God pulled me back to Him. By putting God first, every other relationship in my life is strengthened.
If you have a relationship God and truly believe He is who He says He is, how can you not put Him first?

You would think so, but the God who existed in the Old Testament stated that if a family member converted and tried to tell you about their new faith, that you had a duty to stone them to death.
Christians state that He is a different God now, which is a good thing, considering they are not following Judaism.

Well, the way I see it, if I put God first and foremost in my life, the others in my life are well-protected. I am a better person for putting God first, and therefore better for my family, my friends, workplace, community and the earth as a whole. He guides my every move so every move I make is well-intentioned and not of myself. God comes first so I can better serve Him who provides- for all of us in my life. You put your attention first on another human, then you are doing things for that person first, which may lead to attention away from things which are holy. Make sense, I hope?

any god that does not allow someone time and effort to care for their own families is not much of a god. god is supposedly family oriented, according to the do-gooders, how does letting your family rot for the glory of god place us in a better category? this is the problem with christianity. they are so certain their version of god is correct that they can ignore the plight of the earth in all areas as well as the plight of theri fellow man because they believe that god is going to reach down and rapture them out before things get bad on earth for them. WELL, HOW MUCH TIME DOES GOD NEED to decide this? christians live in a universe devoid of reason and common sense.

I honestly think it is because of fear. Crimes are commited all the time 'in the name of god'.
Since god does not every reveal himself to us in a tangible way, all Christians have (and other religions) is faith. The problem is that faith can be interpreted in vasty different ways. Some positive, some very negative.
It all depends on how a religious person defines faith. Drowning your kids in the bathtub? Killing a neighbor because they are of a different religion? List goes on and on.
I am so glad I am atheist and don't have to constantly sort all this mess out.

Another one. God gives each individual freewill and free choice . Otherwise you might drag your family down a hole with you.
Whom do you want in charge of your destiny. When will you give up your freedom. If that's what you think you should do give it up to Jesus and then try to show others your grace from Him. That's all the control you need or deserve.

I agree 100%
God just wants to be a part of your life, not your entire life. God wants to be there, but Family and friends should always come first

Think about it, if you put God first your family would be a priority! The problem is there are too many unbalanced people who dont know how to sort priorities.
