I have been taking 200 mg/day for bipolar disorder, and I have noticed my moods are labile. Is this a side-effect of the medication?

Lamotrigine is prescribed for the treatment of epilepsy seizures and some forms of bi-polar disorder although its efficacy for this disorder has not been established.

Extensive information about lamictal including side effects may be had by typing "Lamictal" into Yahoo! web search. Rxlist.com and drugs.com were good references for side effects. I could find no reference to it causing mood lability or any mood disruption although I found other side effects can occur. In any case you should discuss any untoward experiences with your prescribing physician.

Good luck, good mental health, peace and Love!
