I am an American living in Europe and my fiance is from Japan. When I go back to the USA, we would like to get married, but I cannot file a fiance visa through the US Embassy. Do I have any other options other then waiting until I get back to the USA to start the K1 Visa? Because of my job, getting married first and trying to file an immigration visa causes complications.

One idea I had was having my father with a power of attorney file it for me. Is that possible?

I contacted the embassy here and they said only field offices in the US can do it, thats why I asked the question. Maybe she meant the their specific embassy cannot do it.

If you read the instructions for the I-129f Petition for Fiancee, you will see the instructions clearly for where you file when you are outside the US.

It is possible for you to mail the petition today, from Europe, and get your place in line.

What are you in Europe doing? If you are working for an American company, you may be able to file through that. My fiancee filed for me, through his company, at the american embassy in Cairo, Egypt. It could be done, ask your HR department.

If you have a US residence that you can use for the filing process AND you are filing taxes in the US, you can file for your fiancee with the help of an attorney.

You don't have to file in person. Why don't you just go online to the website and print the application and mail it in? That is the only way to submit it anyway. And if I were you, I would use my parents address in the US as my mailing address!

When you file you send it by mail, so I don't think it matters if you are physically here or not, just use an American address, that's where you would get your receipt/approval notices etc
