To prevent the semantics game, I’ll interpret “funk” as a melancholic and/or anxious emotional state during a period of nonproductivity or general lowliness. Is that OK?

During a funk, I introspect and gain perspective. I find the funk is usually brought on by some imbalance, say too much work and far too little play, in my life. Sometimes, looking within for answers might contribute to the funk at first, but reconnecting with yourself will eventually help you rise.

To put myself back on track, I usually write out a list of things I want, need, and desire- a sort of goal list. Having that physical document helps me track my behavior and deem them proactive, injurious, or otherwise. If goals are not being met, I ask myself some questions: is this important to me? what am I doing to prevent my achievements? And so on…

If you’re in a funk, don’t sweat it. Take some quiet time. You’ll spring up before you know it.

Driving too fast listening to The Ramones too loud usually helps me. As does finding a supportive friend to talk to. But then sometimes alone time does the trick. Or watching a comedy movie. It all depends on the nature of the funk. Funk comes in more varieties than red wine and there isn't one cure-all.

Funk is a state of judgement.
True Happiness happens whenever we are not judging anything.

Any time that you are not judging you are happy.

The moment that you start judging, you find something to be unhappy about.

It really is that simple.

Deep breathing and letting go of what you think is causing you harm. Things are perfect the way they are, it is a human's desire that cause pain. Human desires may create unreal targets and hence may cause pressure and pain. Feel the beauty in the world, start Meditating!

If I'm at work, I have to suck it up.
At home, I occupy myself with something else...chores, games, a movie, maybe take a nap. If I have the time ahead of me, I may round some people up and hang out for awhile. Good friends and good conversation typically pull me out of a funk pretty quick.

Go outside to my "private" garden & sit looking at the flowers, listen to the birds, etc. After about 10 minutes the "funk" is gone.

Realize what is causing the funk, and give it away, throw it in the wastebasket!
A person needs to understand they don't own the funk, so why hang on to it!
